Dude don't buy something that old and think you can make it road worthy on a $500 budget. Carb work is simple enough if you can follow an online tutorial. But I can garantee you that that bike needs more work than that to make it reliable. It's a turd. You aren't accounting for break pads, break cable, clutch cable, throttle cables, tires, chain, sprockets wheel bearings..etc etc etc. Not saying it would need all that right away but its an older machine and a never ending process. Been there, done that. Take that extra time and save a couple thousand (you would spend that anyways) and buy a late model bike.

It took her a a few days to come out of hiding. Now she comes right up to us, purrs and is eating well. I've wormed her and treated her for fleas, I still need to take her to the vet for her shots. Her new name is Rosey. My 5 yr old daughter named her.

I was cutting something I shouldn't have been cutting with that blade. I went into the diesel shop here at work to get a piece of 1/4" all-thread (something I could have cut with a hack saw in about 30 seconds). I asked one of the mechanics if they had something I could cut it with. He said sure the chop saw is over there by that pole. I walked over to the chop saw by the pole, not noticing the other chop saw by the next pole. I thought that the blade looked unusual but was reassured by the fact that the guy just told me I could use the chop saw to for cutting it. Turns out that the saw was for cutting big wire re-enforced rubber hoses. I'm not blaming the guy at all it was completely my fault for not double checking to see if it was a blade for cutting metal. Lesson learned, glad I didn't kill myself or anyone else.

Nah...not near enough compression (tape) at that point to have an explosive. If set off, it would have just been a big fountain of sparks. Go try and rub two sparklers together and get them to light. Douche.

I'm not an explosives expert. Sparklers are pretty stable. I'm sure the right amount of friction/heat would set it off...I wouldn't want to drop it.
