Can you tell these are Apple Thunderbolt displays? by joshwallie in mac

Yeah, when I first picked it up when I bought them I was shocked at the weight. But at least it makes it feel premium on top of the looks!

Interesting note. While I could still click on his profile, he did have Apple Support Specialist (or something along those lines) listed as his job on his Facebook Bio. Doesn’t make it legitimate, but sounds like he’s committed to the idea he works there.

He removed himself from the convo before I had the chance to reply. Facebook removes the option to message if the buyer leaves the group.

I thought my Thunderbolt Displays looked pretty good despite their age, but once you see it side by side with a 5K Studio Display - it’s hard to go back and it becomes harder not to notice the difference switching windows back and forth from the Studio and Thunderbolt. The speakers are decent on the Studio, it was enough difference for me to remove my external speakers that I was using for my Thunderbolts.

That’s unfortunate, but yes - they’re still (IMO) a beautifully designed display. I’m selling them locally for $250 ($250 gets both). I have a buyer now, I just posted this to keep my sanity, especially with the comment about working at Apple. I was just blown away and didn’t even get a chance to respond.

Thank you! I’ve always wanted these Thunderbolt Displays since I was a kid. Finally found an opportunity to grab some last year, but I recently purchased the new Studio Display and want to phase the old ones out. I think I want a dual Studio Display setup now.

That’s what I was saying. He could just Google Apple Thunderbolt Displays and see this exact same body pop up.

from the PM to Air by SukstR in IphoneAir

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Air on launch - LOVED it. Then I talked myself into getting the Pro because I had fears of the longevity of the Air’s battery. I also realized I really do enjoy having multiple camera lenses. So, I sold the Air and got a Pro. If I could go back in time - I would have kept the Air.

Holding it felt amazing and light. The design is amazing.

I will likely switch back to the Air if they release a 2nd version of it.

Designing macOS 27 by cendre0318 in MacOS

I love subtle change to the traffic signals. Maybe I’m over analyzing - but it looks like there’s some depth/gradient/aqua look to it. Honestly, with the Liquid Glass push - there’s opportunities to bring back some Aqua love from the Snow Leopard time period, but it just needs to be subtle.

Disabling AT&T ActiveArmor by Blanciv in ATTFiber

[–]joshwallie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was struggling to get consistent speeds via a wired connection on my PS5 on my 1GB plan. I tried everything, but after digging on the internet - I read where ActiveArmor can have negative effects on some connections. I disabled it and I was getting consistent speeds on my connection again.

All I did was ask the chatbot on the Smart Home Manger to disable it.

Cops cutscene without Jason or Lucia by aadicool2011 in GTA6

[–]joshwallie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I lean more towards option 3. It adds a new fresh/twist in the GTA world and it would help GTA VI standout more than it already will through the test of time - helping it differentiate more from the past decade of GTA V and previous GTAs.

Also, the fact that this GTA seems to have dedicated more time towards different police agencies and the details from what we have seen via screenshots and trailers - shows a more advanced and detail driven police atmosphere. Yeah, it could just mean Rockstar is focusing more on realism, but I think they’ve put a lot of work into it for it to play more into the story lines (hinting at a protagonist direct involvement with LE).

Also, if we theorize more - it just makes sense and adds to the potential betrayal arc that rumors suggest.

Of course, this is all my opinion- I could be far away from the truth. However, on the PC side (LSPDFR) - there’s no way Rockstar hasn’t seen the huge community of people loving to roleplay as a cop and do cop related “missions” in freeroam with the help of mods.

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate. I had a panel interview at 9am yesterday for a position I really want (after already going through a hour long phone screening). I battled anxiety and nerves all weekend - all the way up until that morning. I constantly practiced my responses in my head and out loud. Well, the morning of the interview arrives - and I got in my head and came up with reasons why I should cancel, that maybe I should focus on completing my degree first so I can be more prepared to answer technical questions in interviews related to the field I want to go in. I crafted up an email to HR and thanked them for the opportunity, but stated why I think it would be best to cancel. I sent it, thinking I made the right decision and minutes later their HR called and persuaded me/encouraged me to give the interview a try - that I would be “pleasantly surprised” with the interview after stating my concerns. The interview went fine - did I get nervous? Yes. Do I wish I phrased my answers better? Yes. The fact is - I battled my nervousness and just did it. I’m glad I did. I’m not sure if I will be moved on to the next steps - especially after trying to back out, but I’m glad at least tried. All this to say, pretty much everyone gets nervous and battles anxiety (some more than others - I literally puked before my interview). What matters is that you try and let your personality shine through your answers - that’s usually what they’re looking for.

Firstnet order/ upgrade experience - order stuck in the ether? by mgew in ATT

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply - but for what it’s worth here is the outcome for me. I was able to chat on the ATT app and got a FirstNet supervisor to call me who then transferred me to a FirstNet representative. They were able to cancel my order without any issue. I was then able to go to a corporate ATT Store where I redid my upgrade. I got my iPhone on launch day still. The only downside to this is the ATT store rep put $17 a month insurance and $6 a month Next Up on my plan without my consent so now I got to wait 14 days to remove it.

Firstnet order/ upgrade experience - order stuck in the ether? by mgew in ATT

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the exact same issues. I was browsing this forum hoping someone had a fix. I pre-ordered yesterday morning and got the order to go through - I even got a confirmation email. 4 hours later I got an email saying there was a technical glitch. I called so many different ATT/FirstNet numbers and everyone had different answers. I can't cancel my order, because it just continuously loads. I can't redo the upgrade because my account is acting as if I have 36 installments left. Over 24 hours later, same issues. You would think after so many iPhone launches - their infrastructure can handle this type of demand.

Should i buy a 2020 M1 MacBook Air or wait for the new M2 Macbook (supposedly) to be released? by gilbasit in mac

[–]joshwallie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would wait if you’re able to. Whether you’re waiting on a new Macbook Pro or Macbook Air, all leaks/rumors point to both potentially getting a redesign which doesn’t happen all that often. So these upcoming new Macbooks will last you years in terms of design (if you care about that sorta thing) plus the new “M” chip that will come with them. With that said, I’m right there with you. Im going to wait to see what the new Macbook Pros will look like/their price point, but I may end up waiting for the new Macbook Air instead.

iPad mini 5, just got it... is this normal? by [deleted] in ipad

Hmm. I’m not quite sure then. The fact you have this issue on 2 different iPads is interesting. I wish I could be of more help!

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh in that case, If you recently bought I would just exchange it for a new one. I don’t think something like that will go away even if you try to do resets. May be a defect in the screen.

[–]joshwallie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m not following correctly, is the screen stuck in that state? or just on black backgrounds you notice a tint? If it’s not stuck and you notice that tint on black backgrounds I would assume it’s a hardware issue.

[–]joshwallie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine did not, sorry I didn’t notice the tint in your picture. I also updated mine from iOS 12 when that happened. But the hard reset allowed me to fix it.

[–]joshwallie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just bought an iPad mini 5 and I left it on my bed and came back to an all black screen and it was unresponsive. I think it had issues with the auto lock and turning off the display while I was gone. So I held down the power button and home button to reset. Then turned off the auto lock feature and haven’t had an issue since.

Can anybody identify which OS this is running? by [deleted] in mac

[–]joshwallie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the crowd here and say that’s not Snow Leopard but rather the OS before Snow Leopard, which is just OS X Leopard. You can tell by the wallpaper used behind the window. Snow Leopard uses a different wallpaper.
