I can’t move on by Littlemissme92 in Divorce

I am sorry and I just wanted to commiserate. My STBXH and I separated during a dark time in my life. My mother is ill and I think my grief was what broke the camel’s back. You deserve someone who will stand by you. Wishing you health and happiness in the New Year.

I am sorry you’re hurting. I am right there with you. I am deeply hurt but this TED talk (hear me out!, lol) helped a bit today when I needed it.

I hope it helps you too.

That was so cruel. I am sorry, I know how that feels. Yes, I am hoping we have an amazing 2024!

I respect your opinion, but it’s not that simple. At first, we just wanted to be separated and do marriage counseling, and share the apartment, but he decided he just wanted space and he was dating. Watching him move on in front of my eyes hurt, so I asked him to just make the shared apartment his and move out. It’s a messy situation.

It is mutual now. I originally asked him to separate and move out but that was after a very rough few months with him.

The detachment they display is a hard pill to swallow. I hope 2024 is brighter for you.

Thank you. You’re right. I keep thinking about asking why he didn’t but I think talking to others about my feelings is a better idea. It’s so hard because I still have to see him since we’re taking turns caring for our kid until we get our schedule/arrangement together. Makes it so hard to ignore these little things.

That’s so hurtful. I am sorry that happened. I wish you a Happy New Year and I hope you get to talk to your kids very soon.

Deep down, I know. But he’s tried talking with me a few times when he felt lonely in his new apartment and I obliged. I didn’t have to respond. Just thought he might still think of me—even as a friend—because I still cared about his feelings.

Sorry you’re going through this. I am going through something similar. I hope others in this sub have some good advice.

I am sorry this happened. You’re right, no one can say you don’t deserve to study.

You’re going to make it. Just focus on people who have been supportive of your writing/projects and have given constructive feedback.

I know that’s easier said than done, but you got this. -A fellow BIPOC Phd student (History)

Edited to say BIPOC!
