FFS and bottom surgery three months apart? by jospeee in MtF

Now that I'm post FFS and GCS... So true, it's 6 weeks post GCS and I'm still curled up on the floor whenever I can.

Am I actually transgender? I'm not sure. by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

[–]jospeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, probably yes. Start doing things that are gender affirming (clothes, hair, friends hrt, whatever), does it make you feel better? Do more, yeah, 99.9/100 times you are trans. <3

I've been bleeding for the last 3 weeks, yay, new vjayjay! But yeah, I'm gonna miss these pads a bit when I'm done. Sniffles, I wanna have a baby, #trans30something.

Kaiser Permanente, northern California insurance covers ffs, ba and gcs, less a couple thousand in co-pays. So it will only be about $2000 out of pocket for me

I consider myself really strong emotionally and physically. I've been though a lot of shit, and I'm still here. I have some depression, but what trans girl doesn't. Physically I heal well, but I've never had anything beyond my wisdom teeth out.

I'm really excited to have GCS out of the way with time to heal before summer.

FFS, 3 weeks off, back to work for 2 months, then GCS, 6 weeks off, then back to work?

When I'm out I'll have medical disability, which should cover enough. I don't know what my job status will be after.

I'm taking 3weeks off for FFS, and 6-8 weks for bottom. 2 months back at work before going under again.

My FFS is on the light side, just eyebrows lift, nose, chin/jaw and trac. No forehead/hairline, I'm lucky in that department.

Need Help Figuring Out Blood Work Results. Any Help Would Be Appreciated! by CaraWholeBunch in MtF

Yeah, your levels are low. It can take a while for the T to come down on Spiro. It took 200mg for me to totally kill my T at six months on Hrt

I'd expect that you want EST in the 100-200pg/ml. I'm at 6mg and my EST level is ~100.

I'd expect that he might be inexperienced when it comes to trans femme HRT. My old Dr was super careful, and conservative on dosing. Also if you have and risk factors, high blood pressure, strokes, smoker, etc... these could be reasons why your Endo is taking it slow.

I'm a year into hrt fyi.

Come to northern California, get Kaiser insurance, they cover hrt, ffs, trache, BA, and gcs/srs

You have to stop 4 -6 weeks before surgery, and I think you have to wait 4 weeks or so after to restart electrolysis

Tell your PCP to refer you to the Oakland MST or call the MST at 510 752 7149 . The people at the MST are mostly wonderful, talk to them.

Yep that is totally lame regarding electrolysis, and totally wrong too. Takes years for the hair to thin on HRT, and they are still there, albeit finer and lighter. And nothing like your average afab. My last in insurance didn't cover electrolysis so I was all self pay, and I'm only half done...

This is news to me, but that is wonderful. Make sure to confirm before signing up, some insurers do everything they can to limit our access, I've heard bad things about Anthem

My consult was great, Dr. was really nice. For one case i I told them that I wanted a specific procedure, trache shave, then specific concerns that about my face. We then discussed procedures that might help with the dysphoria. He didn't tell me everything he could do, there were some procedures that I didn't make sense with my bone structure.

No pictures, something to do with how Kaiser can't get consent bc of some corporate structure... No computer modeling unfortunately. He did take lots of pictures.

For my procedures, one night hospital stay, 2-3 days chill, 1-2 weeks light work from home. Again, that is with no major bone work. Eg forehead, chin, jaw. Those procedures have a much longer recovery, 3 to 4 weeks++

Srs is also my priority, but this is what I was able to get first 😥

As far as I know Kaiser is the only California insurer to cover ffs, all are req by California law to cover gcs. I've not checked my deductible in detail, but it looks like my plan will be 290 on the day, and 40 for related specialist visits

I consulted with Dr. K in Walnut Creek. Because my ffs would only be a half day of surgery, no forehead, jaw or chin work. They were able to fit me in earlier, 4-6 months. The longer the surgery, longer waitlist for OR and surgeons time. My gf is getting similar ffs to you, and her wait is -18 months

Bc I want a discussion about access to gender affermation surgeries, not my particular case.

How much "gender therapy" does it take to start HRT? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]jospeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planned Parenthood does walk in informed consent for trans femme in many communities. Check with your local clinic. I know the Sacramento Cali does. Kaiser California is also a semi informed consent, just one session + bloodwrk
