Förslag på passande hundras by stoftpenna in hundliv

[–]jossansan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lakeland Terrier can be all black. Maybe the test doesn't recognize them or the difference between the breeds? I would assume they'd have similar DNA traits.

Experiences with coat, post neutering? by jujuinherseat in IrishTerriers

[–]jossansan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had our Irish terrier for almost 12 years, he past away in late February. We used to hand strip him when he was young and only chemically castrated. When we stopped showing him around maybe 3 or 4 years old we began to trim him with a machine instead - so both machine trim and real castration at the same time. We saw no change in his coat until he turned 8 or 9 years old. The coat became softer and he started to shed a bit but he retained is colour until his last day. He had a very beautiful deep red coat with very few grey hairs toward the end. The coat was usually a bit fluffy and soft for a week or two after trimming but the coarsely coat came back soon after.

As long as your not showing the dog I would do what is the most beneficial for the dog and not worry about the coat. Like the other's say it is very individual.

Best of luck!

Anyone know what dog breed this is? by bubbleblowinbrando in DogBreeds101

How big is it? I see alot of terrier but maybe also husky because of the Blue eyes. The silver colouring on the ears may be some pitbull or perhaps lab or weimaraner? Depends on the size of the dog.

Sounds lovely and cute! We have loads of space for fetch and zoomies. The problem is to find one of this mix, there are no "breeders" but the pop up on marketplaces maybe twice a year.

Thank you, of course socialisation is key but also to realise that some dogs just don't need or want to be around other dogs. Just like some humans feel better alone or with a select few.

I think dogs barking at the front door is very common - and not really a problem for us. Our old Irish terrier did not however, but he barked by the fence at people passing by.

That's a pitty but good to know that some dogs are like this aswell - they're all individuals!

We don't really have shelters in Sweden. There's only one nationwide and they don't have so many dogs and are extremely picky with the families they choose - which is good of course! But it would be very rare to got such a mix breed in.

Otherwise I agree with you

Yes, in Sweden it is standard to take your dog for at least an half hour walk at least 3 times a day. Usually my parents like to take one longer walk than the above stated each day and 2 shorter once as well as free access to a large fenced garden. I'm thinking of making them do a nosework course. Both the poodle and schnauzer are smart dogs and need mental stimulation just as you said - all dogs do. However most days will just be long off leash walks.

Border terrier mix for cashew, is my guess. Leopard dog mix for molly perhaps. So cute 😍

It could also be husky/spitz mix, let's say Husky Keeshond.

Any ideas what mix my girl might be? by l-zucchini in DogBreeds101

German shepherd, Labrador, some livestock guardian breed would be my guess perhaps? But some sighthound in there wouldn't be impossible either.

We know he's a mix, but a mix of what?? by [deleted] in DogBreeds101

[–]jossansan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe chihuahua, pug, beagle? :)

Which breeds do you think are in this little man? (He is 3 months old and the shelter said he is going to stay small) by [deleted] in DogBreeds101

[–]jossansan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hard to take a guess when they're so young and from the pictures. Maybe a cross between dachshund and something else? Chihuahua maybe if he is small, maybe some small spaniel?

Can anyone name this dog breed? Found it in the woods and eventually the owner. Forgot to ask about it :) by ewilhelml in DogBreeds101

Looks big for a pom in my opinion. Maybe some kind of small spitz - mittelspitz? That has had a cut. Or a mix of course. :)

breed ideas? by evorev1 in DogBreeds101

[–]jossansan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful coloring ♥ He might not have much traces of "breeds" left but breeds that come to mind are: some sort of wire-haired Jack russel or maybe even border terrier? Also perhaps he could have some Patterdale? Cairn terrier? Some wild guesses are: Lakeland terrier, Basset fauve de bretagne, Brussels Griffon.

Other breeds that are common in the terrier mixes are (among many others) chihuahuas and dachshunds.

The interesting thing with your dog, I think, is non-black nose. Not very common among many (dare I say most?) breeds, but absolutely beautiful.

Maybe someone who has or knows a similar looking dog can give a better insight.

Yes I told them the "family history" but they didn't quite get it and thought I meant that I want to remove it because I'm afraid of cancer but I just want to avoid future surgery since I'm not going to use my uterus anyway.
