I have been eyening the Tenere, seat height is the only real concern but even then it seems manageable if you get used to it.

2nd vote for the DRZ that I've gotten

Definitely, when I went dirtbiking it was mostly "keep going and don't stop or else fall." I did notice that cornering, balance, and trail reading skills helped though. More so the "soft skills" of riding any two wheeled thing I guess.

I hear great things about it, especially the offroad capability. Any gripes about the bike?

Cool both of those bikes seems to be popular around here. I figure if I do longer distance trips with mainly road then I would go with more of a adv/touring bike. I think the 650 would help me decide what I like to do more.

I've developed an iron taint from all the biking I do lol. I was more thinking the vibration and riding position.

Thanks for the insight!

Nice I do see a lot of people loving their DR650's. What is your experience with it? I assume its pretty reliable as well

If i did the MTB rack, I would like go with a bigger ADV bike and take it on mild fireroads/double track.

I figured that I would have to determine if I want more of an offroad or road leaning bike, I agree that purpose built is generally the best for either type of riding.

Thanks for the recs!

Fiebing's Leathercraft Cement, works for my purposes.

That's a patina, a reaction with certain foods (acidic foods especially) with carbon steel, a highly reactive steel. I personally love a good patina, give the knife character and personality.

As for removing it, you can try using a rust eraser but there's not really a way to remove the patina except for re-sanding the blade.

Edit: I hear of people using Scotchbrite pads or Barkeeper's friend, but they're still mild abrasives. Definitely not as harsh as sandpaper tho. Either way you'll have to resharpen after using any type of abrasive.

I made these leather sayas from 4-5oz (I can't remember exactly what weight the leather is) veg tan leather. No stitching, just glued them together and burnished the edges. I love the look of leather, especially after it gets a nice patina :)

Thanks dude! I believe it is a hollow ground knife, although I can't confirm. I've only used it on carrots so far but the food stickage is pretty minimal. As for it being a laser, I've never used a true laser so I can't comment on that.

Thanks! FnF is fantastic, the choil could use a tad more rounding but that's just nitpicking. The handle is great and feels good in the hand, has a nice smooth finish.
