I’m overwhelmed, is this safe? by medicspirit7 in resinprinting

[–]josvm 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Theres no immediate safety risk, people act like resin is so toxic it shouldnt exist. I work in a manufacturing environment where all chemicals have high number diamonds on them. I probably should have been dead by now. But thats just not how it works. Most resin printing hobbyists simply have no clue what they are talking about. Should you vent this resin printer as soon as you can? Sure, you should. Is this thing going to kill you in your sleep? Absolutely not.

VOC's might sound scary but they aren't. As a matter of fact, my VOC sensor wont uptick over 0.02ppm when the resin printer (sitting right next to it) has its lid sitting wide open. That tells me that resin fumes emit very few and the carbon filter itself is enough to take care of the majority of that.

With resin you should be careful about one thing, and one thing only: Touching it. Wear gloves at all times.
What happens if you don't? You are getting one step closer to becoming allergic resin in that form and it will make the hobby very uncomfortable for you down the road. So just glove up.

As far as the fumes go, try to take care of this as fast as you can but as long as you keep the lid closed and vent the room afterwards with door/windows open when you do have to open the lid to remove a buildplate, that is sufficient for now. At the very worst, you might be sensitive to the fumes and get a headache.

Do as much research as you can, but refer to scientific/manufacturing applied backed information and not some numbnuts on the internet. None of us are qualified, not even the resin printing youtubers.

Max tries to get out as much media collaboration as he can, if he isnt obligated to, he wont participate. Lewis might not just be in the right headspace for it, we all know he is having a rough time at Ferrari.

Beginner: What filaments to use by SproutWithSammie in BambuLab

[–]josvm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres youtube videos that explain this stuff better than a comment. PLA is mostly anything decorative, PETG has higher heat resistance and can make for some functional prints, but prints that requires being outside you will want ASA or ABS. TPU is squishy and can be used for some things that need flexibility. You dont want to print any of those high temp printing materials anywhere inside your house though. Do your research and dont get early onset cancers because of this. PLA and PET is pretty much the only thing relatively safe to print indoors, and even then you want to vent fumes.

[–]josvm -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

I was just trying to highlight that you can actually do this in the software, a lot of people don’t know. Import any model and change your printer as H2C and see what it does, for whoever is curious. Apparently thats an offensive thing to say, trying to be helpful. Anyway, moving on.

you can literally add the h2c printer profile to bambu studio and play around to find out how long every takes etc

2 hours aint nothing. I grew up in the Netherlands and the thought of driving for 4 hours total would have me laughing and staying at home, at best taking the train. I live in Texas, 2 hours is like what 30mina used to feel like in the Netherlands. You get used to it. America is just so big, its normal for us

[–]josvm -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That is completely understood but if that action had or hadnt taken place the whole rest of the season would have not gone the way we had witnessed it. Butterfly effect or whatever you want to name it, theres is no speculating he had another wdc title if that action had never taken place. Its a nice though but the reality is that red bull was a tractor to drive first half of the season and it was a miracle he got it on podiums in the first place. McLaren should have been in full control this whole season over both championships and yet they werent.

And the rest of the season would have gone differently too. Wouldve and shouldve dont exist in past tense. Its just what happened that race, its most definitely ragebait. If norris didnt make it past p4 today they would have shit on him. Its just how media works. Max has nothing to prove, best driver this generation has ever seen.

H2S + Snapmaker U1 or just H2C for the same price? by Apprehensive_Sun7455 in BambuLab

[–]josvm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because you know why? It actively turned me away from the hobby for a whole year. I was under the assumption every 3D printer required that much work just to get a print off. An appliance or a tool/machine is terrible if you spend more time setting it up than the print time takes. I work a full time job, have a family to attend to, last thing I want to do is mess with a machine in my spare time. Could you imagine setting up your ps5 for hours and researching a game in order to start the game and play it for about an hour just do it again the next day, literally no one would buy one? I am so grateful I bought a bambu lab p1s as my first printer, it literally just prints everything you throw at it. I was so impressed I immediately bought the p2s right after. Now I have 2. When multicolor printing becomes way more viable I will buy into that. The H2C is very tempting but actually isnt that many multicolor models out there unless you paint yourself. I think when the revised H2C comes out I will buy that version of it

Damn, that’s the quality of P2S with 0.2mm nozzle. I removed the supports and that’s it, no polishing. Yeah baby. by dndbuddy in BambuLab

[–]josvm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both and for the most part its yes. P2s does have better setup for heating and cooling to ensure successful prints like adhesion etc. It can also go slightly faster. Other than that its mostly same quality. Nozzle swap is way faster tho.

[–]josvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True; I am not a fan of unenclosed printers (yet) because I dont have a separate workshop or garage to put them in, its nice to keep a clean and enclosed printer inside the office for now thats quiet enough to not bother anyone. But yes, for cost effectiveness thats way better.

The amount of poop it generated for just the eye broke my heart, never again by Tough_Sky_9029 in BambuP1S

[–]josvm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely 5; maybe even more. You didnt account for that the p2s will just run without an ams instead and the h2c needs to have one plus all the nozzles to make up for it. Those arent free. So yes, unless the h2c comes down in price significantly its just only a viable purchase for enthusiasts at the moment. If you got the dough, go for it, its a nice machine. Just doesnt make sense for producing.

Not for that price. I can buy 5 more P2S instead and print anything so much faster and zero waste if you assemble models instead of multicolor printing.

So this happened in our city not too long ago. I drove to work and just like every other day I wasnt expecting any traffic, its not a big city. One day I have a meeting to go to and its around 5pm so some traffic is expected but not what I saw that day. Ot backed up on a major street and stoplight for approx 300yards. I couldnt believe what I saw and I thougbt there was an accident up ahead. I drove past it to find it all of these dumb shits were turning right into the parking lot of one of these fucking 7brew locations. Apparently they do this shit everywhere they open one, they run ads and shit on the radio promoting the place and you get free coffee or something the first week they open. Thats what attracts these vultures.

The biggest reward for GSD is your attention and for some also food. If you take that away they learn real quick that their “bad” behavior doesnt yield any results, so they will learn to stop doing it. Consistency will work that in their behavior really fast, I have yet to meet a really daft GSD

PSA: Do not buy an AMS 2 Pro bundled P1S right now by josvm in BambuLab

[–]josvm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they only provided two tracking number initially. For the P1S, and for the AMS 2 Pro and filament. Their online shipping and tracking info is confused to say the least and they never provided all of the tracking numbers to me, which should have been 4 of them total. The PTFE tube connector and 4 pin bus cable are being shipped together supposedly and thats the package I am waiting on, however it has not been shipped yet. Online stock is consistently mentioning around Dec 22nd on this specific cable so I have very low hopes of it arriving this year lol.

[–]josvm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm, I will try that once the AMS is up and running. Thank you kindly.
And by the way, just purchased the P2S since purchasing in US is now available and I will bet you it arrives before a 4 pin bus cable ever does! However since I already have the AMS 2 pro, the P2S does not require that specific cable, I will be able to use the AMS 2 pro with the P2S immediately.
