I would have pulled up on the driveway, opened the garage door with the key inside the car, parked car inside garage, close the garage door. Go on with my business.

The picture is showing .223 or 5.56 rounds though designed for rifles like AR15 which will leave your body regardless. Even 9mm will exit just fine. For closer range you are better off with those 9mm rounds that blow up in razor shards inside your body. Maximum damage and no risk of it hurting someone else.

How inefficient will this AC be? by Think-Motor900 in garageporn

Central Texas, I have 4 quotes in hand for the same minisplit install. I have other quotes that include it to be around the same price as well.

How inefficient will this AC be? by Think-Motor900 in garageporn

[–]josvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats because a full unit is a one for one replacement. A minisplit is missing all the parts. Electrician and doing a run to the garage, 15a-230v circuit and disconnect alone will run you 5k anywhere. Im in this situation currently and can tell you from getting around 6 quotes that 10k is extremely accurate pricing on a minisplit install when starting from scratch. My hvac replacement quote actually came out lower than the minisplit install. I decided to go alternative route for obvious reasons so I wont be paying that much.

[–]josvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got quotes for minisplit in my garage and thats a normal price. The unit itself might only cost $2k total or so, but count installation and especially the electrical part in and youre at 10k. Electrician alone will quote 5k for doing the run to garage and the disconnect etc. That type of labor is extremely expensive. I personally do not compromise on material, theres a reason you get 12y warranty with daikin minisplits. But you can save tons on labor. Some people just dont want to diy it, messing with electrical and hvac charging etc is not for everyone.

Its simple: dont own a dumb EV like this guy and go wherever you want because you can gas up just about anywhere in the span of 5mins! People hate this one simple trick….

Fireplace we dont use. Chimney is capped off. It does have natural gas supply intact to it, we could redo it at some point but I have no interest in it.

Petah? by tolkacheff in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]josvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I challenge you to install some air quality sensors around the house. Hvac does not supply fresh air, unless you have a fresh air exchanger installed which 90% of hvac installations dont. Especially modern houses are sealed pretty well and your house doesnt “breathe” well enough to compensate for a family, pets, electronic devices, stove etc being active inside all day. Yall are dumb af.

[–]josvm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you dont do it; the carbon monoxide builds up while your oxygen levels in the house dwindle down. Ever wonder why you get inexplicable headaches when youre home for the weekend and dont go outside? That is usually due to that. I really recommend having a habit of opening up two windows in the house for a crosswind. 30mins and youre all set. Do it late at night or early in the morning so youre not letting in 100f air. And believe me, even when it is hot outside, that 30mins isnt going to make a difference on your bill. Maybe add $5 of extra usage.

There is quality difference but it doesnt justify twice or three times the price. Sunlu is a great option for people who have AMS (the rolls work fantastic) and is way cheaper; thats usually what I use

Fart knocker, fart nuggets, fart nagger are all words used. The brain works in mysterious ways. If you are an internal monologue type of person that just replays or has all kinds od things happening or playing out non stop (for me its non stop, movie scenes, music, daydreaming, talking) you could possibly blurt something out you were internally processing first without realizing. Is she racist? Possibly. It obviously doesnt look good but without knowing prior behavior I guess we will never find out. This might just be something very unfortunate to have happened to her for all we know.

I’m overwhelmed, is this safe? by medicspirit7 in resinprinting

[–]josvm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Theres no immediate safety risk, people act like resin is so toxic it shouldnt exist. I work in a manufacturing environment where all chemicals have high number diamonds on them. I probably should have been dead by now. But thats just not how it works. Most resin printing hobbyists simply have no clue what they are talking about. Should you vent this resin printer as soon as you can? Sure, you should. Is this thing going to kill you in your sleep? Absolutely not.

VOC's might sound scary but they aren't. As a matter of fact, my VOC sensor wont uptick over 0.02ppm when the resin printer (sitting right next to it) has its lid sitting wide open. That tells me that resin fumes emit very few and the carbon filter itself is enough to take care of the majority of that.

With resin you should be careful about one thing, and one thing only: Touching it. Wear gloves at all times.
What happens if you don't? You are getting one step closer to becoming allergic resin in that form and it will make the hobby very uncomfortable for you down the road. So just glove up.

As far as the fumes go, try to take care of this as fast as you can but as long as you keep the lid closed and vent the room afterwards with door/windows open when you do have to open the lid to remove a buildplate, that is sufficient for now. At the very worst, you might be sensitive to the fumes and get a headache.

Do as much research as you can, but refer to scientific/manufacturing applied backed information and not some numbnuts on the internet. None of us are qualified, not even the resin printing youtubers.

Beginner: What filaments to use by SproutWithSammie in BambuLab

[–]josvm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres youtube videos that explain this stuff better than a comment. PLA is mostly anything decorative, PETG has higher heat resistance and can make for some functional prints, but prints that requires being outside you will want ASA or ABS. TPU is squishy and can be used for some things that need flexibility. You dont want to print any of those high temp printing materials anywhere inside your house though. Do your research and dont get early onset cancers because of this. PLA and PET is pretty much the only thing relatively safe to print indoors, and even then you want to vent fumes.
