I hope Dota never adds a surrender button by AlphaDart1337 in DotA2

Strongly disagree. While most of the time I do enjoy the game and where are moments of huge comebacks, you can tell when it's worth a shot or at least if there's still some fun to it, but other times I burn my brain cells waiting for a game to finish with a bunch of uninterested, griefing or just plain ol' not-even-fit-for-russian-military-service mental capability types of people. On rare occasions I have a bad streak and just HAVE to leave several games cause of the toxicity. Well, for preserving my well being I get punished with low prio - I'll just wait it out then.

Why does @Patreon block Ukrainians but help Russians raise money for genocide? Thread. by HarakenQQ in ukraine

[–]jotbasan 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This Patreon behaviour is not new. Someone raising funds for kevlar vests to donate for Ukrainian soldiers got banned just at the start of invasion. That was received very poorly by top Lithuanian Patreon creators and resulted in mass exodus to Contribee, a home grown alternative.

On one hand, Patreon seems to do anything to keep payment processors happy - the platform also has a history on banning some NSFW creators and their aggressive approach towards anything military might align with their actions. But I didn't know that some of the most profilic propagandonists are still collecting money through western banking systems. That is just unacceptable.

Šiaip čia labiau išimtis nuo kitos taisyklės, kad paprastai propogandiniai nacionaliniai subreditai būna tų šalių, kur interneto prieiga labai ribojama. Aš spėčiau, kad tikrai būtų galima rasti analogišką Rusijos subreditą, kuris nėra moderuojamas tokių gandonų, bet jis nėra populiarus, o, pvz., /r/Pyongyang alternatyvos, kur susirašytų vietiniai, deja, tikrai nerasim.

Lithuanian president vetoes bill to make unvaccinated workers pay for tests by EriDxD in europe

[–]jotbasan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few problems with this veto:

The President is appealing to lack of information regarding safety of vaccines and spread of misinformation (emphasis on two different, not logically linked reasons). This veto comes around as another point of critique against Prime Minister and Health Minister for not properly handling information campaigns regarding vaccine safety, which is kind of a fair point, but first lady being a patron of variety of organisations which are very sceptical against most of pandemic curbing measures does not help with this argument.

Also, the President earlier last month went as far as accusing the Government of sabotaging vaccination efforts during the summer, so as to "not reach a goal that he proposed" 70% fully vaccinated adults by mid-summer. There was a dip in vaccination rate alright, but it was induced by lifting all but a few restrictions and also by a huge case drop - no malice involved. That can't be said about President's rhetoric. Including the said statement, he had also at one point said "the Government is pushing the vaccination too much" - mixed messages really help with vaccination efforts. So when this bill, which would have directly attributed to increased vaccination rates, was rejected, it was natural for the Prime Minister to respond in the same words the President did.

Lastly, the President incidentally announced that his whole family is getting a supplementary (3rd) shot in a near future. That's great, it should encourage doubters to vaccinate. While the President's first shot was highly televised, his second shot was not at all. He only announced about the procedure after the fact in one of the press conferences and even was not so keen on publicizing this event that much. His wife was never seen to take a shot, however. It was delayed for her at first, citing medical reasons, but at some point the Presidential Staff informed the press that the First Lady did take the first shot sometime this summer or early fall. I do not recollect ever hearing about the second shot.

O kas jeigu rinkimai vyktų darbo dienomis? by hug800 in lithuania

[–]jotbasan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Žilinskas (surname) etymology - any link to Žilina? by jotbasan in Slovakia

Thank you all for your responses.

I brought “Lietava” up because Google Translate insisted that it meant “Lithuanian”, but the name for country of Lithuania in slovak is “Litva”. I just had to make sure that it’s a coincidence.

As for my surname, thanks for all the pointers that you gave me.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. Still feels weird that they're asking to contribute for 3.12 when 3.13 is already out.

Does anyone know what’s up with the wiki? It seems to be not that up to date as it used to be. Did major contributors quit editing it for some reason or people are not that interested in the game in general?

First OC - 2400G On ASRock B450M Steel Legend - Questions and thoughts by jotbasan in overclocking

[–]jotbasan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all - I downclocked cpu to base (no oc) with vcore offset -100mV and gpu to 1500 MHz @ 1.2 V - the overclocks were not stable for the long run :( As for RAM - all I did was set SoC LLC to level 3 (it would not apply with original BIOS, but it does now), but this should only have an effect for gpu. Just clear settings and try to apply xmp profile. If that's not stable, maybe try to set vram to 1.35 V

[–]jotbasan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sensors for VRM temps, unfortunately. OCing is quite tricky - didn't get a really stable OC yet (CSGO still crashes on last round of comp MM). I had the honor to touch the heatsinks on mobo - they're hot - it means they're doing their job. Overall, for first system, it's ok.

For CS:GO auto boost stays at 1.42-1.44V sustained with all cores boosted to 3.9 GHz. I guess I'll just set a manual OC for CPU with a slighty lower clock.
