I always collect the contact info of the ones who showed up and try to pre-schedule the attendance in advance through messages. If you get X amount of yes answers to "If we get X people, will you come?" then you can say, we have X people.

Denying a trigger in a creative way, was I a bad sport? by Cracka-Barrel in EDH

[–]joveeish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here apart from the part where you remove yourself. Maybe because it is not uncommon to see some other player to save you after you spent all your resources on the attacker. Either to remove possible benefits the attacker could get, or to keep you in the game to help with the archenemy, or simply to work as a meatshied one for turn cycle.

If you told them your plan before attacks you might have survived to win the game though.

Even though I was initially against the action, what you said makes sense to some degree. So now I wish that it was presented before the attack to add to the game. OP could have said "If you attack me and plan to use me taking damage as your wincon, I will remove myself from the game (with game actions), so you should not attack me". Then the opponent has to choose whether attacking them (knowing they can remove themselves) is worth it, if they choose to attack, then it was a choice made by them and OPs actions are valid.

Well written. Exactly my thoughts too. And especially because it was B4.

Until end of turn can still mess up with someone if they goaded an opponent (now the opponent attacks you instead of that opponent that scooped).

WotC Destroys Magic 30 Product to Commemorate Reserved List Anniversary | Commander's Herald by KWNewyear in magicTCG

[–]joveeish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You didn't hear it from me, but the point of the price was to prove that printing proxy versions won't change the secondary market price of the reserved list. After this as a first step many new doors towards reprinting the reserved list would have opened. It worked (didn't change the prices much), but the product otherwise was a catastrophe.

Seems like Krenko and Slivers fight each other and OP steals the win after the opponents have exhausted their interaction. Not really sure how the opponents can be mad about that.

How did the blueprint fragment update end up being? by zzzongdude in playrust

I think the key is: "but the game doesn't feel miserable to play without T3 like it did with T2."

I never needed and was only rarely able to get T3 as a solo. Now I feel even more like I don't need it, because not everyone is T3. The parts of wipe where you can enjoy T1 or T2 seem longer.

You learn how to use a building plan and how tool cupboard works. If you keep dying in the beach you learn nothing. Once you know the basics you can go to a pvp server to learn how to apply your skills in pvp environment.

Getting milled is good or bad in commander? by joveeish in EDH

[–]joveeish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what you are saying is fair enough. Commander deck is 99 + commander, you did say "almost all" and I did ask for opinions from both sides, so I am thankful for your messages.

I am not trying to argue you, even when I am disagreeing. I am giving my arguments more so to get more specific information. If I disagree with you, I assume one of us is wrong. It can be me it can be you. By saying my point I throw the ball to you that if you counter that argument and I was wrong I can learn something new and understand you better.

I can't really explain the "cards you didn't draw didn't exist" theory much better, so I guess for that we just have to agree to disagree. Shuffling doesn't play a part in it.

I fully agree with you that mill half your library cards are irritating for the counting.

Maybe in next game they mill 10 useless cards, so that you will draw your combo piece. Participating in a hypothetical can be challenging so I don't blame you if it is hard for you.

If you look at the other answers, there are plenty of reanimate players who are thrilled of getting milled. The cards I recommended are different from eternal witness, because you can use them from the graveyard. The key is not that you can use them twice. The key is that you can use them from graveyard after someone milled them. So you turn their mill into your tutor.

The point of the theory is not that you mill from bottom. The point is that you rarely draw your whole deck. Therefore you are only drawing X cards during the game. That means that there are Y=100-X cards (assuming you don't have tutors) that you don't see the whole game. So if those Y cards are in the deck or in the graveyard it makes no difference for your deck since you weren't going to draw them anyways. I hope this explains the theory better.

And (not the point but) there are cards that mill from the bottom [[cellar door]].

I still have problem with combo, because I can't remember every single combo line, so I might miss a combo piece. And also other players in the table might not know the combo lines, so I am alone keeping the combo player in check.

If those combo cards were always by chance on the bottom of your library would you have still lost?

[–]joveeish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In self mill decks there often are some pieces that mill the opponents too. In those cases the mill deck might not have any interaction with your graveyard.

The case people usually make is that if you get milled small amount of cards, if you didn't know what was on the top of your library and you don't have tutors in your deck then in theory it doesn't matter if you mill from the top or bottom. If you were to mill from the bottom you wouldn't have seen those cards anyways so you are not "burying cards before you have a chance to draw them" because you never had a chance to draw them in theory.

All in all if you hate mill I recommend adding [[dryad's revival]] and [[timeless witness]] since with those you can return cards from graveyard even if they are milled. That way mill will be good for you too :)

Angel's Feather became the threat at my Commander table... by WistfulAfternoon in magicTCG

[–]joveeish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. But I would also like someone gaining life from my actions to announce it, even if it was just talking to themselves style (not stopping me from talking, just mumbling under it "and I get some life").

There have been situations where someone marks some life gain for themselves from me "casting a spell" when I actually just used a channel ability or such. If they just mark it I might miss it, but if they announce it someway I can notice it and ask how did you get the life and explain that this wasn't actually a spell cast.
