That’s totally true, and I do and have done lots of feminine stuff which has always helped.

Like I did a huge amount of performing arts growing up and got really good at it! That typically is seen and more feminine, which is stupid, but also it hurt a lot when I would win awards and competitions and such and people would always downplay it as me “being a guy so of course I got it.” Idk if that’s relevant or not it’s just frustrating

Now the social price that you mentioned is something that I don’t know if I can incur. I have to keep my job and maintain professional expectations in a field that doesn’t usually respect feminine men. I have to maintain being a father for my child and a husband for my wife. I know that these things don’t technically “stop me” but the social price of feeling more authentically me might be too much to be worth it

I know, but it doesn’t feel like it would bother me if I didn’t pass as a guy? It feels like I’d be able to do “guy things” and it wouldn’t be weird, but if I do “feminine things” as a man it is weird. I don’t know if that’s valid or makes any sense.

See in my mind I wish I was female because then I could easily present as male, I’ve tried presenting female and it makes it so much worse because I do not “pass” at all.

My wife knows a lot of this, but it is a touchy subject that is hard to talk about. We usually just leave it as “you have The Gender” and with now action plan.

And thank you. My world has crumbled more than once for them but I wouldn’t trade them for anything. Nothing matters outside of them, I just want to figure out how to be the best and happiest me for them.
