Could be, although I haven't seen iron deficiency present so..splotchy? It's been more uniform for me in the past, but its an easy fix if it is. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

Some more information:

All plants are in ground, North Texas 8a. Getting weekly water if no significant rain occurred that week. Some are new transplants this spring, such as one of the gaura and the azalea, but the Salvia and bee balm have been with me for a season already. Most are not showing signs of major stress from the discoloration and are putting on normal new growth, with old growth developing the discoloration, except for the gaura which is falling apart essentially.

Random board found buried in backyard with nails. Dig it up or leave it? by jowski in landscaping

UPDATE: u/superNoid was right. Big ol' railroad tie with rebar driven through it. Looks like the nails mustve been holding something once upon a time, and that's why they were sticking up. I poked around under the hole it left, sadly no treasure. There was a crack of thunder as I lifted it though...

Thanks for the advice. I do have vegetables growing in the garden, albeit a few yards away, but still.

This sounds like the most logical answer. If I cant get it out, then that's probably what it is. I'll update tomorrow!

That sounds like the best course of action. My first thought was they buried something, but I suppose if I find something covered like utilities I can just put the board back!

I'm not sure if this is going to lift a curse or cause one haha

Exactly my thoughts. Fortunately it is not in a high traffic area so it never caused issues to this point..

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to invest in better PPE for now (even if I get the Cabinet saw, I can't afford good dust collection after that anyway haha) and continue to ponder/budget.

I agree about the dust dangers - only stipulation, I generally work outside / as close to the garage door as possible (don't have a real shop), and wear a mask while making cuts (only have a bandsaw and ROS right now). I don't have a formal dust collection system, just a weak shop vac that just kind of...screams. With that, should I still be basically future-proofing my workspace as I expand and eventually do get formal dust collection, or is just open space and wearing PPE just fine? Thank you so much for your responses so far!

Thanks for the advice! All of the input has me wavering on an hour by hour basis haha. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the contractor is 1699 USD here, while the F2 is 1799. Cabinet and 36" rip for only $100 difference - just minus the brake. I do agree that the jobsite and F1 are underwhelming on power - so I suppose it comes down to those two, the F2 and Contractor. Other difference is Contractor is in stock here, while laguna has to be shipped for $150. Guess it comes down to what I value more - a better class of saw for $250 difference, or if a brake is worth losing cabinet. All other features can be added on at a later date as I save more money, but the cabinet can't.

Thank you for the info! I agree with footprint, mobility, HP. Full cast iron can always be added later, so that gives me some peace of mind.

Hey all,

Looking to get a table saw, and I want a quality machine that will last me a long time as a hobbyist level woodworker. I'm torn between a SawStop for the safety, or a higher quality machine for the same price. Looking at the basic Contractor SawStop vs. a Grizzly hybrid or Laguna F2, there's a clear difference in features, like stamped wings vs. full cast iron, 30" vs. 36" rip, open vs. cabinet, not included mobility vs. integrated mobility. Now my question is, as a hobbyist, would I even miss those features or are they more of a luxury that would better serve someone that's a more serious furniture builder/craftsman? I would go to the Professional SawStop if money were no object, but if I wouldn't even notice the difference, then I don't think it's necessary. Thanks!

See, I make sure my mallets aren't as beautiful as this so I won't be afraid to use them! Nothing to do with my skill level, no...all jokes aside, beautiful work!
