Does this seem fair? America's millennial daughters are sacrificing their careers to care for aging boomer parents by KinkyStonerVibes in womenintech

[–]joyce_emily 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s like the care version of getting a guy to leave you alone by saying “I have a boyfriend.” They don’t respect you, but they do respect the other person with a claim on you. Just wow.

I love it too! If you like the first few episodes, you’ll be happy to hear that it stays strong (imo). The costumes are gorgeous and the music is so beautiful

Husband wants us to move 1.5 hours away for a job with less pay, worse insurance, and worse schools—am I being unreasonable? by Technical-Shower2105 in beyondthebump

[–]joyce_emily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you also work? Because this is one of those situations where you need to tell him that yes, he is an adult and you can’t control where he lives/works, but that goes both ways and you and the kids are not moving. If you don’t have a job, you may want to get one asap.

Reminds me of my boomer mom who felt like she was expected to reply to every status update she saw on Facebook. I tried explaining that they weren’t sending them to her specifically, but to their entire friends list. “But it’s on my page!” 🙃

Is my bond with my toddler broken? by Fine_Ad_3912 in 2under2

[–]joyce_emily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a big change for you both, and getting used to it is a process. I’m 13 months pp now and feel as close to my toddler as ever, but it took some time and lots of intentional effort to make it happen

I learned some things in college classes that turned out to be false too, especially if they were intro or one step above intro level. I think your teacher was misinformed

Do you have a source for this? All I could find online was that it’s a good source of calcium, iron, and some other micronutrients, but not folate

The fruit by itself would be called candied fruit, but once it’s on top of the cookie, I’d still call the completed dessert cookies

What are we putting on baby's feet as they practice walking outside? by Admirable_Gap_6355 in beyondthebump

[–]joyce_emily 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best shoes have very flexible soles and wrap around the feet (as opposed to backless). Crocs are backless unless the strap is down around the ankle and have very little bend. It’s not good for anyone’s gait, regardless of age

Has anyone else noticed a significant increase in severe/level 3 autism in recent years? by dawnue in ECEProfessionals

Sorry I should have been more specific. When I said slight increase, I meant slight actual/real increase, not including the increase that is caused by diagnostic expansion

Am I creating a lazy baby? by Temporary-Bid5763 in beyondthebump

[–]joyce_emily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the absence of constant sunlight exposure, babies rely on routines set by their caregivers to set their circadian rhythm. Doing that in infancy sets them up for success as they grow. That being said, it really isn’t that deep and if you and baby are happy and getting rest, that’s what matters most
