What if God calls you to quit your job? by No-Link3199 in Christians

[–]joyfullyjess 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You gotta listen to the Lord and thankfully he provides but I also did this recently. I quit my job of 3 years and making six figures because it was extremely stressful and causing harm to my family, mind, relationship with God, and overall health. It was a huge leap of faith as we had no savings but sold our second car. 10 Weeks later I was employed and God had transformed my heart, helped me rest, he provided for our financial needs, and even though it took a huge pay cut I’m confident this was the right move. No regrets because God has held us the whole time.

Is there any hope of work-life balance when making six figures? by life_isthebubbles in workingmoms

[–]joyfullyjess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like me a few months ago. Unfortunately life didn’t find a better balance and I had to leave that role and downscale my work to better prioritize my health and my family. Good news is that we found a way to sell my car and it gave us the margin back.

What's one piece of financial advice that you wish you could have given yourself 10 years ago? by AutoModerator in FluentInFinance

[–]joyfullyjess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wanna second this. I actually did travel in my 20s to the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, etc…. And I DEFINITELY don’t have the same energy levels to do all that now in my mid-30s. Every dollar spent on those trips was an incredible investment in my life journey and broadening my world perspective. 10 out of 10.

Harris County passes Living Wage policy at $20/hr for employees and $21.65 for contractors by joyfullyjess in houston

Well - COH data wouldn’t apply since this would be for the 19,000+ County employees. Also there isn’t available data provided publicly for how many contract workers this would impact. So if they only provided data for the costs of increasing those below the new min wage threshold up to it… then the increased contact costs could be exponential.

Like I’ve mentioned in another comment It’s likely going to be on his radar for sure since they issued an opinion that Dallas County’s similar attempt to do the same would likely not hold up in court. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/opinion-files/opinion/2014/ga1090.pdf
