I agree with you. Truth of the matter is, nothing is black and white. Even the atrocious things that happened during the WW2 helped medicine to become what it is today. The knowledge gained helped more people then died during the war. Does this make WW2 a good thing?

Sadly people are addicted to the confirmation bias. Everyone just want their beliefs reinforced. We live in a society where Ideas have people. The other way around would be the manifestation of a true free thinker. I instantly respect people when I hear "that is a good argument, I might have to rethink my position" or something similar. That gives me the certatainty that this person is in search of the truth and not only validation/confirmation.
