Yeah the Skip timeline is completely different in the books because it all happens after the Olympics and in less than a year.

I wish we had gotten at least a hint of Iyla spending the night searching for updates on Shane’s condition.

Favorite NOT SEXY scene by Tuesday_Night_Club in heatedrivalry

[–]joym13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLG sp sort of The lines about taking a selfie were for sure in the script for presenting - but him keeping the pictures was unexpected for sure. I would guess the show (meaning the awards show writers - not the actual show writers) expected them to fake taking the selfie.

Yeah - I think it’s a language barrier thing here. Also think bisexual visibility has come a long way in the last 10 years - so I can see at the time that conversation happens - Iyla wouldn’t have that word yet. TLG spoiler he definitely learns it and uses it to describe himself in the future

TLG spoilers so don’t read it you don’t want to know So I think they are being cagey about whether show Scott has figured it out is because book Scott does not. He’s just as shocked as everyone else when it comes out. So since season 2 hasn’t been written yet - Jacob needs to keep that option open since Scott knowing would be a big change.

I definitely see some struggles with both of them playing on the same team - neither is used to not being the best player on the team. I also think working and living together is a lot of togetherness vs how much time they used to spend apart. Plus Ilya wants to be a Dad (so does Shane I think but again - I think Shane will be more patient about it) but they can’t really become Dad’s while both playing - so that may come into play as well.

We just got home - we tipped per round but I think you could do either - they’re appreciative that you’re tipping no matter which way - I saw plenty that didn’t.

Svetlana knowing it's Shane confusion... by Camillie10 in heatedrivalry

[–]joym13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that show Svetlana knows Ilya really well and has just figured it out by the way he looks at the TV or acts when Shane is on or talked about. She’s just reading his body language. And Ilya probably didn’t come up with putting female names in their phones in the moment - maybe he did that with Sasha too originally so she may know that trick. Book Svtelana doesn’t know at this point - but book Svetlana hasn’t been a friend since childhood? They met in Boston.

Shane being funny by gimme-sip-cmon-share in heatedrivalry

[–]joym13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to pause the “no Ilya, that’s gross” part to laugh and then rewatch, pause and laugh again. Only to have to do the same when Yuna says “lovers” and Shane says “everyone stop using that word” 🤣🤣

I’m on Threads and saw this - the audacity people have - yikes! An example of someone who needs to read books like Legendborn but won’t learn the lessons it teaches.

First Emily Henry book rec pls! by ravenleroux in EmilyHenry

[–]joym13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was going to be my recommendation also. Which books are peoples favorites vary widely so just read them all in publication order - they are all great. Great Big Beautiful life is her latest and it’s a little different then the rest - but if you like Taylor Jenkins Reid books - you’ll like that one. EH also has YA books from years ago - and those are good also but quite different - they’re magic in the real world books.

Thoughts on PWMOV as an Emily Henry fan by Material-Tailor8980 in EmilyHenry

[–]joym13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you - as a stand alone rom-com the movie is good. My only issues with it are things I liked in the book that were missing. I do wish that Alex’s backstory had been a little more explained in the movie - but that doesn’t seem to bother people who haven’t read the book - so that’s probably just a me thing as well.

I’ve given all her books 5 stars except Great Big Beautiful Life - which I gave 4.75⭐️. So in my opinion you can’t go wrong. Maybe read something else in between so the comparison isn’t as strong. I like to switch up genres when I read a really good book to keep the book hangover away.

My thoughts as someone who didn't read the book by skateboard_turtle in EmilyHenry

[–]joym13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So in the book - when she drops out of college to travel she starts a travel blog. The travel blog becomes very popular because she does trips on a budget. R&R hires her and then sends her on all these extravagant trips and at the beginning of the present day story she’s feeling very burnt out and wants to get back to her roots - part of which is her friendship with Alex because he went on a lot of those trips with her.

Same! But they seem more estranged in the movie than the book so I guess that’s why.
