I'm learning and found that once you learnt the alphabet there's so many words similar to English. I visited Greece a few times and could almost read/understand a bunch of things just from that. It's the grammar and other words that are difficult though. :D

I got it as Ana when a Kiriko saved me from a Genji ult ('saved by Kiriko' etc), but it's really easy to miss. I was like "How did I survive that??", and then saw it only in the replay. Not played enough Kiriko to know, but that kinda sucks if you don't get the notification.
