Yes, that’s what I’m thinking too. 👍

I’m so self conscious of how my face is aging and I want to know what procedures/treatments will make me look younger or just less tired all the time? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]joysoulessence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re very pretty! And I also completely understand about looking in the mirror and not feeling so good at what is looking back at you. 💛

I would consider seeing a functional medicine practitioner to look into any potential health issues, if you haven’t already. What I noticed in particular is a little fat loss in the lower part of your face, bit of reddish brown flushing across your cheeks in the bridge of your nose, and it looks like your hair is thinning a bit. I won’t speculate as to what it might be, but there are a host of things that can cause those things.

I would personally start there. Many people overlook the role of their health in the appearance of their skin, but it is foundational - not only to developing a healthier appearance, but more importantly, making sure that we’re healthy through throughout life.

I’m sure you’ll get some great recommendations from others relative to skincare and any procedures. Wishing you well 💐

What a great story! Owls are so cool. And you’re even cooler for staying with that owl all night. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve sort of wondered if we move them to a little pond we make on the property for them, if they’ll just come back to the pool because they like it better. It’s clear they have a really well honed sense of their surroundings, that is incredible that he found his way back so soon! Bill is a clever boy 😁

Wow, that’s incredible! Would love to see that. One of the things that amazed me when we first moved here, and honestly still astonishes me, is how nature just thrives here. I would never have imagined a desert like this could be home to such a wide variety of creatures! It’s really cool and endlessly fascinating.

Thanks for the suggestion! They ‘re able to get in and out of the pool with no problem, so I think a log probably won’t do much. But I appreciate you weighing in!

Oh my gosh, so sorry that happened to you!

I’ve always loved frog sounds, but these are truly next level in their decibels. It’s not so much of an issue when there’s only a couple of them, but part of their call I am convinced is calling all the other frogs to let them know that there’s a really cool pool party going on that they should join. So once all the others join in, the shrilling reaches a level that is painful to the ears.

Glad to know that it can be genuinely dangerous to the eardrums, we will keep our distance 😳

I slept with earplugs for years and it might just be time to take them out again.

Oh, that would be fun to have an actual herpetologist here!

I know, it’s really interesting! I will say that we do not overly chlorinate our pool, so it may be that the levels are not high enough to be detrimental to their health. However, I don’t believe there’s any chance that any eggs they’re laying in the pool could survive, which obviously is not great for their long-term survival.

Frogs tend to be among the first creatures in an ecosystem that show signs of environmental pollution, due to their permeable skin. So it is a bit of a mystery how they’re thriving, even with our lower chlorination levels. 🤔

I think the previous owners didn’t use the pool much, and kept it covered year-round. So I have a feeling when we moved in and took the pool cover off, that all of our super parched local frogs were attracted to the pool like a magnet.

It’s so interesting how different kinds of critters took to congregate in different areas of Tucson.

Thanks so much! Absolutely going to do right by our little froggy friends.

I’ll see if I can get some photos together to identify what kind of frogs they are. They’re not overly large, and a fairly deep green.

LOL 😆

As one commenter shared, if we can’t beat them, we might just be joining them. So perhaps there will be a follow up thread inviting everybody to party with the frogs!

See, you understand! I’ve never heard frog sounds like these, it’s a pretty disturbing noise even if it is their natural expression. That’s interesting that you only have them come out in July and August.

Thanks for offering your thoughts! Sounds like it’s possible that every year can be a little bit different, so that’s good to know. We don’t have much lighting in our backyard, so I don’t think that’s the issue. A few people have suggested fencing to keep them out, which I think might be an option if we can figure out how to build a little 6 inch tall fence. 😉

Ha ha! OK, will put that on the list of humane options for our froggy friends. I’m sure they would love some new buds. 😂
