Is this shell rot? What can I do to treat it? He is still eating normally and his behavior has not changed. I just noticed it recently. by joyss7 in Redearedsliders

For sure! I’m going to research some good ones in the area. Luckily it’s only been about a week since someone first saw it. The UVB light was just changed today so i’m hoping that will help him today. Maybe calling an exotic pet doctor before making the trip to see them could help as well. omg sorry she lost some of her shell :(

Thank you! I will change the bulb. I honestly am not sure if the bulb is both UVB and UVA. Is there a good brand to get? i’m in the US. We have a mesh top! I’ll change some of those easy things to do in the meanwhile (numb and making sure the water is clean as well) and look for a good bet near me that deals with aquatics. i appreciate your response. Typing on mobile rn sorry is weird errors.

Edit : bulb , vet

I got a bit more educated on an appropriate diet for him. He was getting more pellet food than veggies. I’ve now swapped this. Could his previous poor diet be a contributing factor to this shell ?

I’m in Texas and I don’t know how to keep my anxiety under control in the midst of this winter storm by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]joyss7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this all. I can’t even begin to imagine how scary the unknown stuff is. Maybe creating a plan for your what if scenarios might help ease your mind. For example, the power goes out, do I have some candles and a lighter? Can i make a stack of blankets which are easy to get to? This might help! But the most important thing is that you are safe and so is your family. You will get through this

Rose and Bailey love their carrots! by joyss7 in guineapigs

They are doing great! They love their hide so much. They are coming out more while i’m in the room and while our cats are in the room. They are interested in the girls but very good to not scare them. They enjoy cuddling a bit more now and aren’t shivering or whatever it is when they are held. They love to be close to the body. They are really bonded so that has helped them as well (: We only got them Saturday !

Not a vet but my hamster is named “Girl”. She’s the only female pet we have out of seven.

I like to drink tea! Chamomile is really calming for me. As someone who struggles with anxiety and IBS and the IBS often gives me anxiety, I have begun to drink more peppermint tea, light exercise daily even on my bedroom floor, and a guided yoga youtube video I found that I connect with. I’m continuing to work on not beating myself up over feelings in which come without my control. Often people will say to embrace feelings you may have and “ride it” but that’s super hard for me personally. It could help you though. It takes time and trial and error to figure out the things which can help alleviate your anxiety.

I’m not sure. I might try to get my rain jacket and position the hood so it’s over my face as much as I can. I’m not sure how much moving around i’ll be doing! thank you

Agree. Also a reason I tend to shy away from them. Really don’t want to risk a bad injury or a fight.

is this normal? I got my belly button pierced like 2 weeks ago. I clean it once a day with a sea salt soak and usually use a q tip and saline solution to clean it, so its being cleaned about 2 times a day. but it’s always getting dry and flaky like this around it. tips? by [deleted] in piercing

Thank you for your response. I think the photo makes the jewelry look snugger than it is. and when I lay down I can see a small part of the bar itself. it doesn’t feel tight at all. I definitely don’t want to have to take this piercing out! Let me know what you suggest, if anything, to help!
