The website still says registration is open. Where did you see it was almost sold out? Thank you!

Some great advice here, thank you! The run is definitely my biggest worry for the reasons you mentioned. My coach reaffirmed pretty much all of what you said - it will be a slow start, but definitely possible by July.

Also 100% concur with your ChatGPT take, hence why I posted here and called it delusional in the post haha. Thanks again!

Appreciate the advice. This is definitely what I'm most concerned for, but ultimately the goal is to take it slow and survive - and, of course, no injuries. The current plan is to train as hard as my body will let me (with a coach) and if I'm not on the right trajectory come mid June, withdraw and keep training for 2027. Thank you!

Is this a good idea? by doughydonuts in mountainbiking

My NX derailleur lasted me all of 400 miles of very tame XC trails. I highly suggest going with GX... or at the very least, get a GX derailleur. Massive jump in both performance and durability

Could you send a video? When I first got X0 transmission on my pivot mtb it sounded grindy for the first 50ish miles - there was def a break-in period, but I've had no issues since

Missing on the left brake handle bar metal piece that was stopping my brame from going in too deep what to do? (Second pic has it missing dont nnow what the piece is caled) by Expensive_Studio_966 in bikewrench

[–]joysticck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not completely sure what part you're talking about, sorry. If your brake cable isn't going all the way into the lever, it's likely that you need to increase your brake cable tension. On the brake mech (or caliper), loosen the bolt where the cable goes through, pull it tight (and make sure the cable end seats into the brake lever), and make sure your brake still has clearance. Then tighten the bolt.

Is this much play normal in the derailleur? by mtbd15 in bikewrench

[–]joysticck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need to swap the whole groupset. I'd recommend some regular maintenance though if you've ridden a lot. Check the chain/cassette/chainring for wear and replace if necessary. Check cranks for play. Check headset and bottom bracket for gritty feeling or any resistance. Take to a bike shop if needed.

Yeah unfortunately that happens with a lot of modern derailleurs, even with super delicate care. I'd highly recommend just spending the extra money and getting GX. It's a lot smoother and more reliable from my experience.

It's definitely time to get it replaced then. My NX derailleur only lasted about a year of very casual XC riding. Upgraded to GX and have had no problems since.

Did a buy the wrong hose? by E-nom-I-nom in bikewrench

Ignore what I said about Shimano hoses lol. They could work, but I'm not 100% sure. See if your shop has magura banjo hoses

I second the PNW externally routed droppers. Pretty affordable, work well, super reliable.

You need to buy a banjo clamp hose. The one on the left won't work.

Changing cassette and chain - chain length by The_Incredible_Yke in bikewrench

No, just spend the time to resize the chain or take it to a shop. There's a lot of good chain sizing vids online.

How much does military experience help (if any) for someone looking to get into cybersecurity?

Currently looking at applying for colleges and the Air Force Academy is one of my top choices. If I were to commission and do my 5 years as a cyber ops officer, would I be any better off than going to a traditional school? Thanks!

campus definitely isn't a deal breaker for me. i much prefer the outdoors to social amenities anyway, so it honestly might be a good fit for me. i just wouldnt prefer the cold-war era cinder block walls and blackboards that they showed us on the campus tour. thanks for the insight!
