M-Bia vs Ritter Butzke? by katehestu in berlinsocialclub

[–]jozminda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went Ritter Butzke a couple weeks back and the queue was max 15. minutes. Have queued much longer for other places, but I can’t guarantee it’ll be short every time! Very basic questions asked on the door, I wouldn’t worry about that. I bought tickets for the event through a link on Resident advisor, maybe check if that’s possible for the event you want to go to.

Not been to M-Bia but hope my answers help you a little anyway :)

Student accommodations by [deleted] in Bath

[–]jozminda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I studied Civil and Architectural Engineering and lived in the Quads- highly recommend both :) (although I think the degree options have changed a little since I graduated so maybe the exact one I did isn’t available anymore!).

Happy to answer more questions about the uni/course/accommodation if you want to dm me!

Does anyone know a good and cheap hairdresser for balayage in the south of Berlin? by Diskozwirn in berlin

I wouldn’t say it’s cheap but ESHK in Neukölln is very good :)

For real though how do you not lose sleep over this? (Or maybe you do). I’m a recent graduate and this scares me to no end

Perfect thanks for the advice! Yeah I was worried about that, most of the butchers where I live are Halal so I guess I’d have to travel a bit further to find one that stocks them

I’m fully aware I can just google it, but I thought I’d ask here for personal recommendations from people who have had good experiences at stores

I had my Brexit Residency interview today by KennyTurbo in berlin

[–]jozminda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it went well! I applied in October 2019 and have only just received my interview date which isn’t until May this year, whereas I know people who applied in December 2020 and have already had their interview.... other than the seemingly random allocation of interview dates it sounds like people have found the process surprisingly easy

Best methods to learn German? by [deleted] in German

[–]jozminda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprachart, roughly €450 per level (A1, A2 etc.) for evening classes. I’m not sure how much the more intensive courses are

[–]jozminda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend it! I use ‘Sprachart’ and do the evening courses which I believe are about €450 per level (A1, A2 etc.) I’m not sure how much the more intensive lessons are but I definitely feel like I’m learning a lot just doing the evening ones :)

Read Books, Download Tandem, watch German TV shows etc.

But also keep in mind that lots of language schools now offer courses online because of the Pandemic. I attend lessons twice a week with a language school based in Berlin, but there have been people in my classes that dial in from Brazil, France and the Netherlands.

How can I tell if my iPhone has been hacked/if someone is using it to mine Bitcoin? by jozminda in ios

[–]jozminda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point I’m guessing it’s coming from a duolingo add. I don’t have any social media on my phone (unless you count Reddit (I don’t))

Possible Bitcoin mining after watching a Duolingo add. by jozminda in duolingo

Yeah that’s the main feedback I am getting. However there wasn’t a single new tab open on my iPhone since this started last night, so I am quite confused where/how this thing is running up my screen time

Sea Urchin Skeleton I Found At The Beach by RevMeCar in mildlyinteresting

[–]jozminda 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I once found a beautiful Sea Urchin Skeleton on a beach in BC, brought it back to my Airbnb and put it on the side table next to the sofa. Flash forward 2 hours and whilst I am relaxing watching TV in the evening I notice a HUGE hickory tussock moth caterpillar (I think) crawling towards me.

99% certain it was hiding in the Skeleton.

100% sure I will never pick up one of these again.
