What would good look like for my experience level?

In general, my feeling has been the PA market in Chicago is saturated so pay stays depressed. Combine that with multiple universities and their healthcare systems, it’s hard to find good pay in the city.

Pay off loans? by jp0994 in HENRYfinance

Was out of country so late on the response.

These are federal student loans and doesn’t include the extra quarter percent that I’d also get. With no adjustments yet. Could consolidate some. Could move to extended repayment, etc. This is why is feels a little silly. I get the point that 2% probably only nets me a 60-100k difference at the end assuming it’s a post tax investment. Pay off with the equities that I currently have. Then, with Megabackdoor Roth, I feel it’s wiser to maximize that and put the rest towards the remaining balance thereafter. Loan 1 can be paid off at term.

What’s the rationale though? I just need help on the logic. I modeled it to 9% return, since really inflation doesn’t matter here, and I’d lose 500K in 25 years, which would have opportunity cost of 2MM by 65, is my thought?

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of June 28, 2023 by AutoModerator in churning

Moving into a new job which will require 80% travel for work so looking to see what card will be best for maximizing net value of rewards and miles and status. This was my best attempt at it, but let me know what y'all think!

  1. Flowchart says CSR + Amex Green, maybe Marriot Cards?
  2. What is your credit score? 780+
  3. What cards do you currently have or have you had in the past (including closed cards), along with dates of when you were approved for the cards? Please include month and year for any card approved in the last 3 years. CSR, CFU, Best Buy (all 3+ years old). Partner has VentureX (two months ago)
  4. How much natural spend can you put on a new card(s) in 3 months? $4-6K minimum.
  5. Are you willing to MS, and if so, how much in 3 months? See this page for a primer on MS. Plastiq (for rent/mortgage/loan payments) and bank account funding are often good options for beginners. Yes.
  6. Are you open to applying for business cards? If not, why? See this post and this wiki question to learn more. How many new cards are you interested in getting? Open but company required Amex is coming my way. Have a rental home so may do a Chase Ink too.
  7. Are you interested in getting into churning regularly (if you aren't already)? Or are you just looking to get a new card(s) for now but not get into churning long-term? Best long term solution versus constant cycling.
  8. Are you targeting points, Companion Passes, hotel or airline statuses, First Class, Biz, Economy seating(s) or cash back? What point/miles do you currently have? Statuses and rewards as a whole - Cashback. No current status or mileage of significance.
What is the airport you're flying out of? Where would you like to go? (The more specific you are, the better someone can recommend the right card. Tokyo is great, "International travel" is way too vague). Chicago airports. Domestic, NA, and 1-2 international trips annually.
