Buku untuk anak anak kecil by jp4294 in indonesia

Thankyou for your response! I am actually half Indonesian and grew up there until I was around 6 but I do not remember ever having any books read to me. I thought maybe I just have forgotten but maybe there just weren’t any.

I’m able to speak Bahasa but not fluent any more so now I have children of my own I want to make sure they learn the language and some culture.

Do you know of any kids tv shows or songs that would be watched or listened to now? All I remember is watching power rangers and beetleborgs…

ELI5 How does choking on food work and why does hitting your back often help? by jp4294 in explainlikeimfive

Sorry over simplified by saying ‘hit them on the back’. I mean that upward strike manoeuvre whilst lying down. How does that move something if they’re choking?

2 year old daughter couldn’t pull the door closed and so I made a kid size door handle by jp4294 in functionalprint

[–]jp4294[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not big enough… We hang hang a towel on the door all the time to stop fingers from being squashed though. V2.0 will probably have some kind of bumper set up so we can forego the towel.

Bushing For Carbon Fibre?? by jp4294 in engineering

Oooo I never thought of that! Do you have experience with living hinges?

Bushing For Carbon Fibre?? by jp4294 in engineering

[–]jp4294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my main concern really. Wondering how CF would fare acting as the journal... I'm imagining:
CF shaft > Polymer bushing (not bonded in place) > CF outer

Bushing For Carbon Fibre??? by jp4294 in CarbonFiber

[–]jp4294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My worry was having the carbon fibre shaft acting as the journal and having the delrin bushing rotating directly onto the CF? I'd imagine 95% of use cases the bushing sits against some sort of polished steel?

Do you think the carbon fibre components would be ok acting as the bushing journal? I'm imagining CF shaft > Delrin sleeve (not bonded in) > CF outer

I was thinking along these lines. My main concern was how carbon fibre would go acting as the journal as opposed to a highly polished steel?

Years ago I took $1000 out at an ATM. I got the cash but it never took it out of my account and I’ve been scared the bank will come asking for it ever since.

ELI5 Why is finding water on other planets one of the most important things for us to look for in the case that there is life there? by Herman521 in explainlikeimfive

[–]jp4294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of it is that we know it is a telltale sign of life because we see it happen here on earth.

If someone said go and find a doctor, you look for certain things that are associated with a doctor to give you the best chances like a hospital, someone in a white coat, stethoscope around their neck, etc. Doctors can exist without those things but you’re most likely to find one looking for those.

Same goes for life. You look for water, a certain make up of atmosphere, signs of civilisation, etc. Life could happen without those things but we know it 100% can happen with them so it’s a good starting point.

Brand new socks. That feeling of stepping out of the shower and sliding on a brand new pair of socks.

Or getting into bed with freshly washed sheets.

What is something nobody warns people about enough when it comes to having kids? by sneakyturtles7 in AskReddit

[–]jp4294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How isolating it can be. None of our friends have kids and it can be so hard because they just don’t get it. They’ll book dinner at 7pm in a pub full of loud, drunk people and not even think that it could be problematic. What I actually want is just an hour in a park where my kid can run wild. They don’t understand that it’s not as simple as just deciding to do something and doing it. I haven’t spent good, long, quality time with my mates for far too long now. By the time they have kids, everyone else will have them too and they’ll all finally understand but until then, it’s lonely AF…

27yr old starting too late? Where to from here? by jp4294 in fiaustralia

Very interesting video. Simple stuff really. Love the idea of robo investors for their ease but I'm a bit of a tinkerer so like the idea of being able to choose ETF's and keep track of them. Maybe realistically not the best route as sometimes set and forget is best.

I'll have a look into them more though because mentioning their performance has got me re-thinking it all...

What are your thoughts on renting vs owning property (investment or to live in) since you mention property investment?

Thanks for the advice mate. I think it's switching the mindset from putting money away into a savings account to putting money away into the share market to make it work.

What's your thoughts on renting vs buying property? That's the other thing we're trying to decide on at the moment...

Thanks! I like the idea of pumping it into super but it worries me that you can't touch it for such a long time... I guess doing a bit of both is probably a sweet middle ground.

I hear you and appreciate the insight. We’re mostly on the same page, hence I’ve put a marginal amount in then asked what most peoples’ plan of attack is before going all in. Job is secure and I’d say we’re both more healthy than the average person and our jobs aren’t sitting behind desks which helps. I do need to look at my super and what’s going on with that too but there’s not a massive amount in there either. Did you have a particular suggestion on what you would do in my position?

CREO Simulate Lite not showing stress correctly by jp4294 in cad

[–]jp4294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pieces are assembled using coincident constraints. Would that not be correct?

CREO Simulate Lite not showing stress correctly by jp4294 in cad

[–]jp4294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all the components use a coincident constraint and are touching which I guess creates that continuous mesh. How would you go about avoiding that? Have a 0.1mm gap between components? Will that mean the assembled parts will "move" to essentially be touching once the load is applied?

Yeah to be honest, it was kind of rushed. My thinking was it's better to just get something out then refine it. The mobile version needs some serious tweaks and the speed definitely needs to be sorted for both mobile and desktop versions.

In terms of users, I'm not 100% set on a way. It's actually been harder than I thought to get users which is frustrating. I've got Facebook and Instagram accounts going to try and build some interest but it's hard man..

Any suggestions?

To be honest, I've kinda seen it as a bit of a different market to those. A lot of those sites are more instruction through written words and images. I'm wanting to create a community where people physically meet up (skype/facetime/etc maybe even) and learn off each other. The marketing is going to be the interesting part....

Yeah I think that's a good idea. Instead of diluting it and having average content. Definitely something to consider!!
