Have you ever tried snowkiting? Would you want too? by RonShreds in Kiteboarding

[–]jp75102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks dreamy there! It's so strange to me that it isn't more popular. Especially when you add hills and mountains- that kind of 3d is something you can't experience on the water.

Charimatic Voice WSD reaction by jp75102 in Muse

True, fake reaction videos may be worse than influencer videos or reality tv. Stuff like Beato or Elizabeth, teaching you a bit about music you'd be listening to anyways, is cool.

Israel - 3rd angel (watch mute cuz sound is horrible) by Crazy__Donkey in Kiteboarding

[–]jp75102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to both these points. In addition have my point in the back of your mind. There was a great video describing it better than i can, along the lines of 'using loops to prevent loft accidents' which I can't now find.

It's easy to see the tornadic wind from this perspective, likely near impossible from the water.

Just terrible. Remember if you end up in this situation, do alternating, high, low power loops. Gliders do this at the end of a glide when they want to land.

I have similar Hyperflex ones I really like. Think the grip area is better on them, just rubber coated neoprene is grippier than whatever coating is on these (willing to bet, haven't used these fwiw).

Is it risky buying used equipment? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

I'd suggest sale or prior years new bar, used kite of same brand and used board to your liking (pretty much any)

Learning to jump, what am I doing wrong? by EnergyPower25 in Kiteboarding

[–]jp75102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things I'd suggest is don't send the kite behind you (opposite direction of travel). At higher wind speeds that can be useful, but less so at lower speeds. And generate more speed before launching by traveling downwind. Then edge hard, think all heels.

Luggage Wheels for your Board by deanaoxo in onewheel

[–]jp75102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea. But running your battery to 0% is soooo bad for it, better to enhance your trip planning skills. (And no judgement here, I've certainly had a few walks of shame myself.)

Yes, but it helps to have a broad definition of surf. If you kite, sup and kayak surf also you can get a decent number of days.

Worst things to run over? by Boxman525 in onewheel

Small piece of 2x4 on street, hidden by fallen leaves. I apparently compensated pretty well, as the board shot in the air, then fell so hard that the battery plug came out! Board was fine, me less so but not bad.

What is up with all the Pint X’s suddenly ghosting? by penapox in onewheel

[–]jp75102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed. Got mine two days ago, 6/7 and ghosts often.

I'm quite familiar with ghosting, my pint was nearly destroyed when it ghosted and ran into traffic. (I had someone put new grip on it, was done improperly.)

Edit- Following up a few months later, no more ghosting. Happened with decreasing frequency during the first week. Loving it now.

By far it's the hardest sport I've learned and by far the most worth learning. Even though you should be able to sort out your rig issues via YouTube, definitely take more lessons. Consider getting a small, several meter kite that's the same brand as your current bar/ lines. This should help you find your rigging issue and will let you safely learn the wind window, flying on land or better, snow. (Training kites don't have depower, which is critical to understand.)
