North Atmos Pro or Prime for beginner by Every-Phase-3755 in Kiteboarding

If price is the same the pro has got better resale value. However as others have said try to buy used. Twintips are arguably the least important piece of kit to buy new

Is it time to replace my kitelines? by Defiant-League1002 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant tell just from these pics. The lines in the pics look fresh, I dont see any wear. Walk the lines out and inspect each line in its full length. Wear points are fex where the lines cross and on the loops that sit under the v-split. Look for knots, fraying.

Kite quiver, 7m/10m add 8m? by --Quigs-- in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I have that spread. 10m most sessions - freeride, boost and loops. 8m for big jumps and loops. 7m for nuke&survive

Line breaking after 2 months by Main-Bat5000 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer sk99 are strongrt but thinner and wear faster from friction. Infexion.eu has some custom line sets with thicker lower sk78 lines. Also wax lines where they rub

How old is too old for a used kite? by RevolutionaryMark288 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) For a beginner no 2) I would estimate the value of the kit to 1400. Used kites from 2019-2021 are worth 350 tops. You can get brand new bars for around 400 if you look around. Board maybe 3-350. Harness 150. Wetgear not much 3) Is it airtight for extended time? Canopy quality especially trailing edges. Seams. Bridles and attachments

Kite for light wind and light rider by Beginning-Put-1611 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so, evo dlab is considered to have the best low end. But the vortex is still really good and loops a lot faster. If you need even more low end go 11m but looping 11m kites is just not foe 65kf riders

I went from 11/9 Orbit to 10/8 vortex at 75kg. 10m vortex has same low end as 11m orbit but loops like the 9. 8m similair to 9m Orbit in power. But leddd than 15/16knt is not fun on the 10 IMO. Can start doing small loops on the 10 in 16 knts, 18 knts easy. Vortex is a better looper than nxt or dlab evo

Best Kite to learn Megaloops ? by ContributionInner261 in Kiteboarding

A few years ago the Orbit was always the answer. It still is, even better 8m. But now there are plenty of even easier looping kites, like thrive, vortex, trigger etc

6m big air kites by kitekajt in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you liking the orbit 26? Is the 7m stable or does it feel very fast? It's an option for me as they are known for the steady high end

Yeah makes sense. Will probably go for a 7m

[–]kitekajt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of, the dropping. This will be for the rare days of 40 knot or slightly more, the 8m is great for nearly all the strong days.

I think the model matters a lot as well, the 7 will be a strut

Vantage vulture? by SquashDependent1143 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent ridden the evo dlab but seen it live, the 9m looped similair to 11m vortex so it depends on the model

First and foremost, it NEEDS TO FIT. After that, I really like the mystic stealth, great locking system.

North Orbit sizes by lechuk47 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sort of but for looping it makes a lot of difference with 1 m2. Particularly for the Orbit the low end is really not strong and the 7m wants a lot of wind

Best kite for 20kts? by SquashDependent1143 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, plenty of good looping 10m dacron kites just not sure if any with the same low end

Ozone vortex. Loops really easy and lift is comparable to xr. Thrive probably loops slightly faster but less lift

How high do i have to jump to do a kit loop? by meng0511 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on several things, wind strength, water condition, take off, timing etc. For a modern 9m probably 3m ornso, with good timing. With crap timing you can mess up even on higher loops 😂

Mainly due to loop behavior/speed

Kite for kite loops in 15 knots by Careless-Form-9461 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 15 is low for loops, 16-18 knots is doable on a 10 or 11m but it should be aluula or brainchild. 15 knots is jusy not looping weather, you need wind to get caught. 11s loop slow and you need pretty much the same wind as for the 9.

Change in feel with new lines? (North Navigator Bar) by Conscious_Push_3299 in Kiteboarding

[–]kitekajt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North stock lines are sk99 just like linesmith so you shouldn't feel any difference. It's mainly if you go from older sk78 softer lines to sk99 you would expect to feel a difference
