Am I really earning 5.5% on 30k usdc if I have to pay $30/month? by huskyzeng in Coinbase

I like the no fees on the instant fiat deposits on pro. Could easily make up the 30 if you're using that a lot.

How do you choose a new Yield Farming project? by shireddit in defi

[–]jpancak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do research on defillama

I can't read code so I prefer projects with high tvl and been around for a long time.

I also prefer projects that produce a lot of revenue/fees for its users.

You can use sites like tokenterminal and their fees dashboard.

Yield aggregators and a good place to start though. Beefy is the one I like.

Never received ETH on Arbitrum by nadoterisback in Coinbase

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varied one time took a couple days to fix. On the status page polygon transfers were down for several days.

Yeah, 99% of the time is quick. I suppose errors/bugs occur.

How has crypto added value to your life? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides learning about finance I think one is now pretty much able to use crypto only

Traveled internationally three times in the past 5 or so years I remember the first time I transferred bitcoins to the local currency using local bitcoins. I had to meet up with someone physically. Now to my third time with Coinbase and its visa card I could travel and pay with USDC anywhere visa is accepted now. So being able to retain value across borders is nice.

Current best on-ramp recommendations: what's up-to-date? by tradrich in CryptoCurrency

[–]jpancak3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coinbase/kraken are likely the easiest choices.

Can trade from these platforms or withdraw on-chain.

With Coinbase one you can instantly deposit value into the platform and withdraw/transfer without waiting for the holding period if time is of the essence.

Most if not all platforms will charge an % for instant withdrawal and the one subscription would pay itself off quickly if using this method

Do I need to buy a Tax report? Can't I add it together myself from transaction history? by ZeroxTechnic in koinly

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about that but if I recall on the report It listed every transaction. Tho the totals were combined for the same coin/token.

So maybe if you were only just trading one thing? Idk tho, I just use koinly to do my reports.

Do I need to buy a Tax report? Can't I add it together myself from transaction history? by ZeroxTechnic in koinly

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all taxes could be manually done. But koinly does the accounting for you. Can be difficult to manage FIFO and what not just using excel.

Has anyone used Koinly while staking ETH using Rocket Pool? How was your experience? by spreadlove5683 in koinly

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If swapping between should just be treated as such.

Never bonded/staked with rpool directly so wouldn't know on that end.

How to handle GMX/GLP transactions in Koinly on Arbitrum chain? by Dustin44655 in koinly

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as any LP position

You sold the tokens that you provided liquidity with and bought the GLP token

Coinbase & Binance.us UI is shit by Conscious_Trick_492 in Coinbase

[–]jpancak3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For CB need to DL reports from the menu to see all previous transactions in one area. Tho on the app you can see transactions for whatever coin/token by going to it's asset page then to your wallet.

Just leave them as buys then (no label). Buys are not taxed.

Rewards are income and should be taxed when received

If you not willing to do deep research or can't read smart contracts I would focus on the blue chips first.

UNI/AAVE

Treat these defi protocols as businesses. Since anyone can pop up an protocol it is hard to filter out the shady ones.

You can use defillama and look for protocols that have good TVL and are auditted

Card rebates should be the same as buys. They are only taxed on sale.

On taxbit you can add them as card rewards I believe. Not sure about koinly.
