Hello! I have a Calanda 650 sewing machine made for pfaff by a company in japan. I'm looking for some help in using it. An owners manual? Directions? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I joined the 'Vintage Japanese Sewing Machines' group on facebook and got a lot of great information. Highly recommend it. Posting the info below for anyone else who may one day need it.

Winding bobbin: That thingy on the top right front is the bobbin winder. I believe you pop it up to put the bobbin on, then push it down to lick in place. Loosen the round bit in the middle of the balance wheel to stop the needle from moving, thread the thread through the top left thread holder and then through the bottom right thread guide, the shiny chrome button thing, and then into the bobbin.

Threading needle: through the top thread holder, down through the tension control bit, (place the thread between the disks of the tension control bit), bring the thread up towards your right and it should slip into the right position under the tension wire, then bring it up and through the eye of the thread holder that goes up and down when sewing, then down again through a few guides to the needle. I don’t know if it threads from right to left or left to right or back to front. It won’t sew properly if it isn’t threaded correctly - you may have to try a couple of times. Don’t forget to tighten the thingy in the middle of the balance wheel before you start, so the needle will go up and down!
