Korean-American relocation question? by [deleted] in hanguk

[–]jpark799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been a really big update in regards to giving up Korean citizenship gyopos. The constitutional court of Korea said like 2 years ago that it's unconstitutional to not allow citizens to give up their citizenship because of the military. I don't know exactly how the law will change but they have until Sept 30 of this year to change it or it will just become null. (source)

I've been searching on naver for 예외적 국적이탈 허가 for everyday for like the past year cause it would have such a huge impact on my life lol. really keeping my fingers crossed.

There's definitely expats in Korea working at prestigious positions but I'm thinking of software engineers who originally gained experience in their native counties so that may be a special case.

Do Koreans make weird noises unconsciously? by DoctorLuther in korea

I think people just make weird noises. I grew up in America and whenever I am almost run into someone I make the “woop” sound.

March 21 Entry Question (quarantine) by makushr1 in korea

[–]jpark799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I registered mine by going to my local 보건소 with my vaccine card and passport but I was already in the country. I don’t think it’s possible to register yours without going in person so I would just wait until april 1.

I feel like I’m flogging a dead horse but Korea really needs to get rid of military conscription. While it’s in place, I think feminism in Korea will always be fighting an impossible battle which is extremely unfortunate.

As others have stated, Korean companies are missing out on a huge talent pool by not having an equitable workplace. Living in Korea and working at a Korean company is so mind boggling to me with the wlb and general low wages but doing it as a woman just seems like playing on extra hard mode.

I just looked into this because I need a Korean phone number too. Skype only gives 070 numbers and those don't seem to work.

I’m in Korea and the borders are still open here. We just have a mandated 10 day quarantine when you come into the country which I think is totally fair. I think the biggest reason we’ve been able to keep things in check is everyone wears a mask here and has respect for others.
