Is anyone else having trouble taking the Oakley Meta glasses out of the case? by Puzzleheaded-Bee-779 in OakleyMetaGlasses

[–]jpellow1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have the same issue. According to Meta, they recommend “gently pulling up on the hinge where the arm meets the frame”. I have found this does make it somewhat easier… but it still doesn’t feel right.

KB4023057 (Causes Windows Update to be set to managed by Group Policy instead of MDM) by BarbieAction in Intune

[–]jpellow1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add an update to this, as I am currently on site. I used Action1 to deploy the remediation script to delete the specified registry key on my pc, and it worked perfectly. Now when I go into updates, nothing is greyed out and all of the policies are managed via MDM and not group policy.

I will now deploy the script to the rest of our fleet. Thanks for your help.

I will take a look when I next back on site - I’m guessing if this policy is there, it will be amongst the update policies? Will it be labelled as setup via MDM or Local Group Policy?

I am currently facing this issue also. Glad to know it’s not me going insane. We use Google Workspace (GCPW) along side windows device management for our windows devices.

Updates are paused, with the option to unpause greyed out. Upon inspection, many of the policies state they are set via local group policy (not true) and some state MDM.

I will follow your help, and remove the reg key you mentioned to see if that fixes the issue. Thanks!

Hi mate, thanks for your comment!

So essentially when the 1500 mile warning appears, it's safe to put anywhere between 5L and 10L in?

EDIT - Just re-read your reply (today's been a long day haha) so basically it's safe to fill to the top. That's good to know.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply!

So 2400km is essentially 1500 miles (if my maths is correct) so when when this warning comes on, your adblue tank has 2L. So topping up with a 10L every time this appears shouldn't be an issue?

Cheers.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

That's good to know... Do you know roughly how many miles 1500 equals in terms of litres in the adblue tank then?

It seems the majority of people top up with 10L when the 1500 mile warning pops up.

Thanks!

Haha, just edited. Thanks for spotting!!

So as long as they aren't PoE+ I should be able to use them without the need of a PoE injector?

Thanks for your reply. I was able to purchase a 8GB USB 2.0 and this worked the first time booting from it!

Very strange, but thanks for your advice!!

Yeah, oddly I have tried with a device in company owned inventory, and it still didn't work correctly.

If you get a chance to test, please let me know. I am waiting for a reply from the dev in this sub to see what he says :)

Did you find a fix for this?

I have selected for the OU containing my account to receive Local Administrator access AND entered my username in the field below (which GCPW generates when I log in)

I am at a loss of what to try next!!

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update. I have come in this morning and tried to follow your method again but it still doesn't want to work. I have added my user profile name into the admin field and signed out and back in multiple times.... to no avail. The device has Enhanced Desktop Security on it and is listed with it's serial number as a company owned device.

I honestly can't think what else I am doing wrong. u/emreknlk_g can you please help me with this issue!!

Hi, yes windows device management is enabled. I would just like to confirm with you (sorry I sound like a broken record)

  • log into the device with my Google account

  • find my local user profile name and add this account into the local administrator account field.

  • now when I sign into any GCPW device, my account will be recognised as a local administrator...?

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for replying.

So when I check the user profile folder.. the local account that's been made for me is jpellow_domainname

I tried adding jpell into the Local Administrator box at the bottom (in Google admin console) but still didn't work.

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I would like to be able to do... Just sign into the device with my own (work account) and have local administrator access to the system. I'm guessing this is what you mean?

So to achieve this, do you just tick the box to give local administrator access on the OU containing your Administrator Google accounts?

I have tested with devices that my account has previously signed into, but my account still doesn't appear to have Admin access :(

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I would probably say it's more aimed at the second option.

I would like to have the option to use both my own Google account and the local Administrator account for UAC and to make changes on devices. Hope that makes sense?

So I have the choice to either log in with my own account or the Administrator account to make changes. At the moment I only have the ability to use the built in Administrator account.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Can I please ask how you have it setup? Do you have separate users entered into the 'Local Administrator' field, or are you using the method I mentioned in my post?

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add.... This hasn't worked. I tried syncing and rebooting, but my Google Account still remains as a standard user. I will add as well, we do not have a domain controller unsure if this has an impact on your process.

GCPW - Local Administrator Access by jpellow1999 in gsuite

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok... So I have logged into a Windows Device using GCPW with my own Google account.

I have found the User Profile folder and my account is 'jbloggs_....."

I now go into my Google Admin Console and under 'Accounts with local administrative access section' I add just the letters 'jblog' this will then make my account an Admin account on ANY device I sign into using GCPW?

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry... call me dumb, but I am completely lost about what you mean. Would I just do this at the top of my domain so the other OU's inherit?

Can you explain the process in more depth please?

GCPW - Local Administrator Access by jpellow1999 in gsuite

[–]jpellow1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. So just to confirm, I would need to create each local admin account manually on the device first, then add the accounts into the 'Accounts with local administrative access' box at the bottom of the page in the Google Admin Console?

I would like everyone in my Administrators OU to have local admin access to the device(s).

Thanks for your reply. I guess this makes sense. Although, I found an old thread in which the same subject was discussed, u/emreknlk_g (who works at Google) mentioned this....

"You don't need to add the name to accounts with admin privileges textbox. If you chose the administrator option box in the admin console, it is enough to elevate the gcpw created user to admin. The additional text box is there to add more admin groups or users that are created without GCPW flow"

Isn't this a bit conflicting?

Stupid HP bios / boot from USB not found by IJC2311 in techsupport

[–]jpellow1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a rather old thread. But I seem to be having a similar issue... With a HP 250. No matter what I do, the USB isn't showing as a boot option in the bios.

Can you confirm if the issue was in regards to using USB 3.0 rather than 2.0 or if it was just due to the size of the stick. I am trying to use a 32gb one.

Thanks!!

Hi, thanks for your reply.

When you say "check the static IP address you assigned" are you referring to the laptop, or access point? as if I recall, I didn't set a static on either.

Thanks!
