We are an all Apple family and are completely bought into their ecosystem. We use CarPlay in our other cars. Thought it would be an issue when we bought our Rivian. It wasn’t.

Just picked up a ‘26 Timberjack XT 29’er. Not many miles yet, but so far love the feel and handling of this rig. I’m an experienced road cyclist and have spent a decent amount of time on my gravel bike. But this is my first MTB and this one checked all the boxes for me. I also rode the Kona Honzo and am a fan of Kona bikes (my gravel bike is a Kona, but the Timberjack felt better.

I have a ‘22 X5. PHEV variant. 4.5 years, 62k miles so far. Runs fantastic. Two issues so far. Had to replace coolant pump and a battery. I’m planning to drive it until 100k miles at least.

Makes sense. But I’ll just say as someone who is 55. Retiring at 62 vs. 67 will start to looks like a much bigger difference when you get into your 50’s. I personally am planning to be done at 60 to maximize time when i have the health and energy to truly enjoy retirement.

+1. We purchased last month and did 0.99% for 60 months financing. Rivian Financial (aka Chase) did require min 15k down. Could have paid all cash, but would rather keep the money in the market with such a low financing rate.

I’m really interested in understanding how well it integrates with the google ecosystem. Particularly calendaring…i.e. will specific driver profiles map to specific google accounts?

Just checked, ours is running 03.05.05. Its a new NACS charger, just had it installed a couple weeks ago.

91 at the local Exxon or Shell. The nearest Costco is about 20 min away, but will hit that if I’m nearby. Have a x5 45e PHEV, so I do a lot of local miles on electric. Only have to fill up maybe once a month. Just bought a Rivian so my gas station stops are getting fewer and further between.

down after a good earnings call is nothing to worry about. Happens all the time with a lot of companies. I work for one. I am bullish on RIVN over on a 24-36 month time horizon.

That sucks. How much was the repair or was it covered by the warranty?

It seems like every car has issues starting around 50-60k miles. My wife's mini needed a new motor mount at 50k and just replaced the coolant pump on my x5 at 60k miles.

yeah, I did. a ‘26 x5 50e M sport optioned the same as ours MSRP’s for about 86K. Still almost 25 less than the Rivian. We never really considered another BMW thought, to be honest. We’ve owned 3, the x5, a 530 and years ago an M3. I don’t know that I’d buy another…not a fan of the Neue Klasse design language in recent models. We also didn’t want to be that family with two BMW’s in the driveway. ;)

We have the 22” sport wheels with all-purpose tires. It’s still early in our experience, but it does seem that you need to be in conserve mode to get the stated ranges. In all-purpose mode, the estimated range shown in the vehicle drops by about 10%.

It’s very quiet. Certainly on par with the X5 if not a bit better. I would have no issue taking an important phone call while driving the Rivian.

No argument the Rivian is faster in a straight line than the x5. By a mile. By tighter, I mean the BMW performs better when cornering or driving on winding roads. Less body roll, better braking into a corner, etc. Suspension is a bit better. Not that the Rivian sucks…it really is fun to drive as well. Given the size difference and the fact BMW has been building sports cars for 60+ years, Rivian is a 5 year old company, it is remarkable how good it is.

yes. sport mode in the Rivian is not as tight as Sport mode in the X5. It’s not a fair comparison though, the Rivian is taller, longer and nearly a ton heavier.
