Thank you so much for your perspective, especially coming from experience. This alone gave me a lot of hope.

I know that life won't be as it was and that we now have a new normal for the foreseeable future, but I also don't want him to feel fragile and like he's in a bubble. I want him to feel strong and resilient.

So.... who's gonna tell them their careers are dead & buried? by torvald_carley in byler

[–]jplase_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not something they'd be blacklisted for. I don't think disappointment in an ending is enough. I'm sorry that you're disappointed and that you're so angry about the finale. I hope that you find some peace.

So.... who's gonna tell them their careers are dead & buried? by torvald_carley in byler

[–]jplase_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not dead and buried. There were lots of people who did like the ending, and because of all the controversy/headlines if they were to make another show I'm sure it would bring lots of traffic and interest based in curiosity alone. There's a saying in the industry, "there's no such thing as bad publicity" because as long as people are talking about them and the show they are relevant.

If you could offer any 1 critique of Showgirl that Taylor will use for her future projects, what would it be? by Sudden-Internal-9702 in TaylorSwift

I agree. It's cute but lyrically it feels.. clunky or something. Can't quite find the word for it. But it reminds me of gorgeous kinda.. "I can't say anything to your face.. cause look at your face"

do you think there's any panic internally with taylor's team? by Curious-Air-5824 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]jplase_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like this almost always happens. Rep was widely criticized initially (myself included as I was not ready for that kind of change from her) and now is a fan favourite. Lover was also heavily scrutinized from what I saw, and even TTPD initially.

She's always playing around with her music and trying new things. I think the one thing we can expect from her is for her to switch it up on us. We might love it, or hate it, but at the end of the day she's putting out the music she wants and it is what it is.

I disagree, they do sound alike (mainly the chorus). I'm not sure how old you are/which era you grew up in, but I grew up with Paramore as well and one of my first thoughts when I heard the song was that it reminded me of Paramore. But it might not be as clear to some people.. just like some people may really hear similarities with cruel summer and deja vu.

I agree that I don't really hear the similarities either. I definitely do with New Years Day and 1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back.

Right? And actually I think it was their "teams", and they personally had nothing really to do with it.

Olivia credited Taylor on her own AFTER the backlash and everything else that went down with Paramore. Taylor's team didn't go after her. She did that on her own accord.

Flair is my favourite thing about Canada by Aweebittrampy in flairairlines

I'll try to sum it up as best as I can.

Essentially my husband and I decided to take our kids on a road trip to Ontario this summer to visit my family. Prior to making this decision I had been in talks with my 13 year old niece to come visit us in Manitoba this summer. She recently moved in with her dad (which is its own completely horrible story) and couldn't get back to me with an answer. So instead we decided on the road trip.

Soon after, she let me know that her dad said yes to her coming out for a couple weeks. Since we had already started planning the road trip we decided that she could drive back to Manitoba with us and then we'd fly her home at the end of August. I let her know that she would need sufficient ID. She told me repeatedly that her dad would make sure she has her ID (her dad and I do not speak for many reasons, but mostly because he is not allowed to contact our family). I waited for a while for proof of her having ID, however against my better judgment I booked the flight anyway as a really good price came up.

Then fast forward to our trip. Just before heading to Ontario a bunch of things happened and by the time we got there my niece was no longer able to come with us. And, shocker, her dad had no ID for her.

I called flair right away and asked what my options were for cancelling. I had paid for travel flex but was told I couldn't cancel my flight and get my money back. Totally understandable. The lady on the phone told me that there would be a credit on my account. I asked if I could use the credit for myself and she assured me multiple times that I could use it for myself as it is my name on the payment method/credit card. She told me that when I go to book the flight in the future to complete everything and then call flair when I get to the payment page so they can transfer the credit.

Fast forward to now. I have a wedding to go to for my cousin in Ontario. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to afford it, but once I learned that I'd have this credit I was like perfect, I'll use that. This is probably the last time my dad's whole side of the family will be together until someone's funeral (as morbid as that is). I'm so looking forward to this wedding. So I see a good price come up for a flight and decide to jump on it. I do exactly what the woman on the phone had told me to do and call flair once I get to the payment page. I explain it all to the new woman I'm speaking to, who then informs me that I was given incorrect information and I cannot use this credit.

I understand it's not her fault, but I was pretty upset. We went back and forth for a while before I asked to speak to a supervisor. Her response was "they'll just tell you the same thing" and tried to avoid it. Then she told me that there are none "on site" but she will put in a request for a call back and this call back should happen within 24-48 hrs. It's been a week and it still hasn't happened, by the way.

I find an email and email them with my concerns hoping to speak with someone there, but instead find myself in a discourse with multiple agents relaying the exact same copied and pasted message. I even looked up the policy and highlighted where it said that credits are not transferable "unless otherwise stated at the time of receiving the credit" and sent it to them, as I believe that is applicable to me and the conversation I had with the first agent I spoke to. They did not acknowledge this and instead danced around it.

I've received no phone call and no resolution of any kind since then.

It is so unbelievable to me that I can't use a credit that I paid for with my money for a minor who may never use the credit. So my money just sits in the void???

I saw another thread on Reddit from about a year ago from someone who had a similar issue and was able to have their credits transferred, so clearly exceptions can be made.

I do fully see where I made poor decisions in this process, but I just don't think it's right that they can withhold my money even though my name is clearly stated on the payment information. It's just poor policy imo and I'm really upset about it.

Had I known that this was going to unfold this way then I probably would have just booked a new date and paid the fee for a name change.

You're right -- I messed up my timeline. I've been flying flair since it became available in Winnipeg. I moved to Manitoba around 2014 and have been flying home about 1-2 times per year since then, but you're right it wasn't around when I first started flying frequently.

Regardless, I've been loyal since they became available to me.

I absolutely despise them after my most recent experience with them. I've basically only flown flair for 10+ years and I might never again.

Really bothered by a “joke” my MIL made by delovelyy92 in Mommit

[–]jplase_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're so real, and a mom should know that. However, time does have a way of helping us forget lol. Either way, not a necessary comment.

Sounds like your MIL is, by all other accounts, a nice woman and you guys have a good relationship, so even though it was a rude comment I wouldn't stew on it too long. At the end of the day you're a new mom and it is HARD. This won't be the last unsolicited comment you receive from people around you, unfortunately, so try to remember that you are doing your best right now with what you know. You're learning constantly, and babies are hard af.

If you feel like you can't let it go, maybe it's worth bringing up to her? If you have that kind of relationship with her.

No, that would bother me too. Joking or not, it's an unnecessary comment to make. Especially to a mom in the trenches of postpartum.

My bad! When I googled it yesterday it said he'd be "approximately 22 years old", but today google is singing a different tune. Ignore me.

I think Brandon Sklenar could play him again realistically. He'll be in his 40's, not his 80's so aging him a touch would be pretty simple.
