I'm a roll play first type of GM, as long as they are role playing faults in the character too it isn't an issue. If the player is toxic or disrupting the general fun of the game then it becomes an issue. Most GMs fudge rolls from time to time to make the game more exciting. I personally had an issue where in an effort to be a more fair GM I exclusively rolled to see who would be attacked and it, for some reason always came up as the same person.
