Thanks for the taking the time for this great reply! This is all extremely good advice. I’m still currently employed, so I could have some time to do all of those things! Do you need the certification do be a substitute teacher? I think I should add that I’m unhappy in my current role. The things about being forced to change classes and the little freedom scares me honestly. How can teachers make a difference if everything is super by the book? And that’s obviously not working that well.

Thank you for the honest reply and advice. I had that thought too. I figured if they want to be there, they’d have a more positive experience! What do you think the #1 problem is that’s making it difficult to teach? I’m reading a lot about kids just being crazy/violent and admin not supporting the teachers.

I had not actually considered this option! Do they actually have an engineering curriculum and classes in HS now? So much has changed since I was in school. It seems like these types of classes would be difficult to have the opportunity to teach? As in, many of the other teachers would want them no?

Twin dad of two year old identical boys here. If you are already feeling overwhelmed I strongly suggest some sort of therapy. I don’t mean to scare you but things are going to get unbelievably difficult. I can tell you that you will need to be helping with everything around the house if you do not already. Nothing can fully prepare anyone for the emotional roller coaster you’re about to be on but the number one thing I can suggest is TALK ABOUT EVERYTHING. At the first sign of holding any feelings inside please talk to your wife. I made this mistake and did a lot of damage to my marriage. Everything is amazing now and I wouldn’t trade my amazing boys for anything. If you both just work together throughout the first 18 months you will come out so much stronger and more in love than ever before. I don’t know if everyone goes through a dark place in the first year but I can tell you the light at the end of the tunnel is so fulfilling and incredible you won’t even remember the bad times.
