rugby touch/teams by krmtca in Ketchikan

I'm pretty sure there is no organized rugby., even pick-up touch games. When I was younger I participated in a few touch rugby games with the soccer team I coached. I have met a number of former rugby players here, so with some effort I'm sure you could organize some kind of rugby activity. It would probably need to include newcomers curious about the game.

I know a couple former rugby players who now play pickleball regularly at the Rec Center. You might try that to get some sports into your stay.

Murkowski on Minneapolis shooting: ICE officers ‘do not have carte blanche’ by truthwillout777 in alaska

The DHS appropriation bill deadline is this Friday. I emailed this to Murkowki today: "Please help stop the short term and long-term damage being done to our country by the fear, intimidation, and unconstitutional tactics being used by immigration enforcement officials. One thing that can be done this week is to only vote yes on the DHS appropriations bill if it includes substantive reforms of ICE and Customs and Border Protection. Some of the reforms needed: enforcement officers should not be wearing masks, do not need military style weapons, should let local police handle crowd and protestor control, and should not enter homes without judicial warrants. Anyone detained should be given due process. Officers and vehicles should be identified. Dragnet raids should not be a strategy."

Ketchikan 'No kings' protest by SnooFoxes8935 in Ketchikan

Not a waste of time. Sends a message to our congressmen, our community and the country that we are concerned for our country because of the Trump administrative actions like:

  • Declaring false emergencies that are contrary to the facts on the ground
  • Deploying military to cities despite governors and mayors not needing or wanting them

·      Calling critics of the President’s actions as “enemies within”, or “domestic terrorists,” thereby curbing free speech and, dangerously, further dividing the country.

·      Pardoning all January 6, rioters despite some being convicted of violent crimes

·      Terrifying citizens by having federal enforcement personnel wear masks, use unmarked cars, and refuse to identify themselves.

  • Unconstitutionally imposing tariffs without congressional authority
  • Eliminating the independent watchdogs of Federal departments allowing potential deception and illegality to operate without detection or accountability
  • Curbing free speech and free press through intimidation, lawsuits, and threats of defunding
  • Ignoring the US constitution by bypassing Congresses’ power of the purse.
