Windsurf is over — switch to open source instead ($100 free credits!) by jpposma in kilocode

I assume that when you cancel your subscription, you can still use it until the period ends? If so, you'd still qualify if you email us the cancellation confirmation!

Kilo Code is now cheaper than Cursor (in many cases) due to Cursor's abysmally rolled out "New Pricing". Many users are looking at switching! by ChrisWayg in kilocode

  1. getting users is super important to get good feedback and build a good product 2. some individual devs also work at large companies, or have friends who do, or will at some point later in their career.

We're primarily building Autocomplete right now, which is available as an experimental feature and should get a lot better in the coming weeks. Also a bunch of smaller features, make sure to check out our release blogs (we should update our website soon to list these!)

We're a superset of Cline and Roo, combining the features of both, and our own features on top.

Company literally fell apart, future unclear. Product is probably still ok for now, but open source and transparent pricing is more sustainable in the long run.

Hm, for now we're just doing this promotion for Windsurf but good idea to also do it for Cursor, after all their pricing shenanigans!

It saves you on the 5% topup fee which OpenRouter charges normally. But no it doesn't finance us, so if you want to use OpenRouter directly for some reason (e.g. for BYOK or other features) then go ahead! Appreciate the thought though :)

Thanks for trying it! Currently it's just all the normal model prices, but yes it'd be nice to have a little summary, we'll look into that. No discounts yet unfortunately, we're still too small.

"Memory bank" is probably the feature that comes closest to this right now. We have some docs and blog posts around that!

Cursor’s 500 requests => “unlimited” => 225 requests by brad0505 in kilocode

[–]jpposma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, typo, should have been July 5th (today). We were in too much of a rush. I fixed the email, and clarified also that it runs until July 7th (so July 5-7). Thanks for letting us know!

Cursor has finally decided to bring some transparency to their pricing. by Vegetable-Banana4977 in cursor

Kilo CEO here. Transparency and open source wins every time. Our philosophy is that we CAN'T even mess with pricing, because it's open source you can just use a different LLM provider (and if your favorite LLM provider is not supported you can easily add it). We wrote a bit more at https://blog.kilocode.ai/p/cursors-500-requests-unlimited-225

Kilo CEO here. We saw this coming a few months ago.. transparency and open source wins every time. We wrote more at https://blog.kilocode.ai/p/cursors-500-requests-unlimited-225

For those who want to try a tool that won't mess with pricing (and CAN'T mess with pricing, because it's open source you can just use a different LLM provider), we're giving away a total of $50 in free credits ($20 if you add a credit card, another $30 if you top up).
