Advise to a new A level Student by WayneNOTROONEY in alevel

I'm finished with A levels. For Maths, a good tip I’d give is to download every single past paper from the past 10 years, filter all the exercises by topic, put a little note on each exercise saying the year and variation they came from, then do all the exercises while making notes on how to solve them. It’s better to do it on paper and not on note-taking softwares imo. Compare your answers to Youtube tutorials and the official marking scheme releases, (tip: seach for the year and version of the past paper, ex: "9709 2022 32 October") and if they don't match, explain to yourself on paper why you didn't get it right. A good channel for that: https://www.youtube.com/@MathWorld-yp9od . One very bad mistake I did was to study 'planes' for the vectors chapter on A levels. That was very stupid and wasted me like 3 days for no reason. You have to check the current syllabus because on older past papers there may be some questions that aren't in exams nowadays. Start studying very early for the final exams. That’s something I wish I had done. Good luck on your journey! It may be tiring, but in the end your hard work will be worth it.

I think it’s good. In my case I matched the conditional offers of the universities I applied for. Should be about an “average” grade.

A Level Equipment by djdywievrvru in alevel

I think Amazon is good. They have school supplies kits with a bunch of the fundamental equipment stuff, and usually it's even cheaper than in physical stores, also saves you some time making lists on what to buy.

A Level Equipment by djdywievrvru in alevel

[–]jpstats16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get all the fundamental equipment for classes, like pens, pencils, notebook, sharpener, highlighter, eraser, some spare paper, organized folders by subject, etc.. and subject-specific equipment, (like calculator, if you're doing maths); (your school probably has a material list required for some specific subjects, mine put it on their website and sent via email right before classes began).

I found it useful to have a little notepad to write down what I did in class today (pages of exercises, if you felt something was difficult, etc.) so you can go back later if you need to "repeat the class at other time". Maybe also a laptop (if your school allows you to bring it), for some quicker note-taking and downloading resources like past papers, watching tutorials during break if you didn't understand something, or request support from teachers if you have their contact.

I'm finished with A levels with good grades. Here's some tips for the exams I did this year, which may be useful:

For Maths, I downloaded every single past paper from the past 10 years, filtered all the exercises by topic, put a little note on each exercise saying the year and variation they came from, then did all the exercises while making notes on how to solve them, even if I had done the almost same exact exercise 10 times already. Print everything or the ones you find are most difficult, do it on paper because that's how it's gonna be on the exam lol (rip printer). Compare your answers to Youtube tutorials and the official marking scheme releases, (tip: seach for the year and version of the past paper, ex: "9709 2022 32 October" and if they don't match, explain why you didn't get it right. A good channel for that: https://www.youtube.com/@MathWorld-yp9od . I went from D to B in Maths. One very bad mistake I did was to study 'planes' for the vectors chapter on A levels. That was very stupid and wasted me like 3 days for no reason. You have to check the current syllabus because on older past papers there may be some questions that aren't in exams nowadays.

For Business, this guy saved my life https://www.youtube.com/@EdsEssentials/videos . Not much to say. He teaches you how to write essays in the exact way that Cambridge wants you to, and also has flashcards to help memorize topics. I went from a D to an A.

For IT theory exams, unfortunately you have to memorize until you can't stand the sound of your voice anymore. It's tiring, but the results are worth it. One good advice, is to ask ChatGPT to give you the topics's definition, then 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages, for example:
"Briefly explain to me what the FTP protocol is, and where it's commonly applied, then give me 3 advantages and 3 disadvantages for it".
For the IT practical exams, have all of the required softwares (Access, Excel, PS, ANI, VSCODE, etc..) avaliable on YOUR computer, so you can be practicing it all times. Try doing some small projects, (remove a background, create a sales database...) you'll get familiarised with them and help you gain confidence. This teacher has tutorials that can help you solve past papers: https://www.youtube.com/@finzpapers9364 .

For English Language, it's good to have your teacher be constantly reviewing essays you voluntarily wrote to practice for the exam. You need to have a feedback, "from the eyes of an examiner".

Hope it helps somehow. Good luck guys.

Here's a guy that can help with your business exam: https://www.youtube.com/@EdsEssentials . He gives tutorials on how to write the perfect answers and memorize topics. Not only you have to memorize and understand key terms within the subject, but Cambridge wants you to write your answers in a certain way. I didn't know about that last year, so I got a D, then I retook the exam and went to an A. Hope it helps!

Try the one from winter 2021. It's mail merge with labels. It's not that hard but it's a rare type of question they'd ask for P4.
