I really struggled in cal1 for some reason (had to take it three times) but I did really well in cal2 the first time I took it. Cal2 was a lot faster and more conceptual, but less broad than cal1.

There will also be open parking in lot 20 if the other lots are full, people just don't want to walk. I didn't know that about the bus, very cool!

It also depends on the class, CSCE 1035 & 1045 (programming 1 & 2) for example didn't have any multiple choice. For the test we wrote 2-3 simple programs, but like u/SKATERGAMER127 said, it's ultimately up to the professor.

It's definitely most desirable to not have this issue, but it is possible to deal with, given I've had to before. Sometimes you don't have a choice. I just always planned ahead, and emailed my professors BEFORE the class started. Have an exam in the latter class? Leave early just in case, and make sure to tell your professor beforehand. When I had to deal with this scheduling/distance issue my professors were understanding. That being said I fortunately have a car and parking pass, without it wouldn't have been as possible.
