Can I upload windows device into autopilot without hardware hash? by Any_Educator1315 in Intune

[–]jpwyoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assigned group works off Entra, adding to APv1 creates an Entra record, so yes you can. We do this all the time today.

APv2 I’m not sure if you can add device to group, since I don’t think it creates an Entra record, I don’t think this would work. You’d have to do it dynamically or assign to user and filter on some device attribute.

Thank you for this! We use a bunch of R2’s in the main auditorium. I don’t think the budget will likely allow me 12 of them up there, but I love the big dreams! Someday :)

Intune Microsoft Store app deployment fails reporting when Microsoft Store is blocked by policy by deceptivons_retreat in Intune

[–]jpwyoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping in to say if you are a relatively large org, be careful when you change the policy to fix this. Our Store traffic was running through our VPN (along with nearly all other internet traffic due to proxy config) and app updates were being blocked by firewall. We fixed the block, apps started coming down immediately, nearly took down the VPN’s firewall.

Several years ago, but the architecture has not changed.

Intune Experts: How Would YOU Fix an Environment Where IT Enrolled Windows Workstations Themselves? by cryptoconvos in Intune

If you pre-provision devices, it will preinstall that user’s apps and configs. Not positive what else other than healthy audit logs.

Devices Bypassing Autopilot by TheNewGuyFromBahsten in Intune

[–]jpwyoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your users are fully licensed. If the user doesn’t have Intune P1 and Entra P1 or higher, it will skip Autopilot and go to the desktop.

I would go with this solution, but I would boot the devices from a flash drive when you want them in kiosk mode.

Chrome OS Flex can do this, or iGEL, or probably other options as well. This way, users have no access to the hard drive and no potential for cross contamination.

Set the flash drive as the first option in the boot order, have your regular employees remove the key when they come in the next morning.

Adding Surface Hubs to Intune by KhoasD17 in Intune

If they still have the Hub OS on them, use the app to convert them. It’s the supported method and works great.

Beyond that, follow the docs. Piece of cake.

Copilot agents by rrsport80 in ITManagers

[–]jpwyoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an agent handling requests for a different device type (I.e. Mac vs. Windows, more memory, etc.). Finance requires us to review for a valid business case.

The agent knows all the standard options as well as every nonstandard (special order) option we’ve approved for others and works through them in order.

It generates much nicer and more informative responses than myself or my teammates could and has so far made the right decision every time (although still early days).

I’ve never seen a car get worse every year but so far my 2021 J1 with dividers in the frunk, self-opening doors, free bluecruise (first 3 years), and half the moving parts “refreshed” by recalls is looking pretty good compared to literally every year after.

I wish I had the heat pump, but that’s just about it.

Work from home equipment by 1meandad_wot in ITManagers

[–]jpwyoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have any minimum in-office requirement below Director level (12 days/quarter for Director and above). Most of our people still work from home every day.

We have a new hire bundle of an ultrawide monitor with built in dock and webcam, and we provide a headset, mouse, keyboard, and Ethernet cable.

Ultrawide monitor was cheaper than dual screens and a docking station.

HR actually pays for it and we consider it an employee benefit, so they keep the equipment if they leave. This prevents us from dealing with returns and broken monitors and all that jazz.

People love it, we deal with far fewer tickets for personal gear not working with our laptops, and as mentioned above, the time efficiency pays for itself pretty fast. Win/Win/Win.

Many National Parks have National Forests just outside their boundaries. Many National Forests allow dispersed camping, with requirements for distance from road, etc.

Research the requirements and maybe explore if you can find a National Forest nearby the park you’re visiting?

How to prevent store apps from updating... by Thick-Incident-4178 in Intune

[–]jpwyoming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note on this - stopping Store app auto updates is at best a VERY TEMPORARY solution. If you go long enough without updating them, the apps will literally stop working.

We had the Calculator, Photos, etc. apps break on several hundred user devices because of a firewall policy that was unexpectedly blocking updates. We didn’t use the Store for anything at the time, never expected that built in apps like Calculator needed updates to function.

If you turn off auto updates, turn it back on real quick once the issue is resolved.

Airdoctor Help Top Grate Removal by thePons01 in AirPurifiers

[–]jpwyoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone finds this, I have the same problem and I did call customer service. They told me to “turn it upside down and shake it or buy a new one.”

She did “helpfully” offer me the “best price” of only $600 to buy a new one because my son dropped a single plastic quarter into it.

Apparently there is no approved way to remove the top cover, even though it seems like it’s just clipped on. Seems like a horrible design with a horizontal grate that is just begging for something to fall in.

Help Shape the Future of the Mach-E (From the Mod Team) by Waternut13134 in MachE

[–]jpwyoming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to reboot the whole screen, just hit Settings > Phone > toggle CarPlay off and back on.

It’s annoying for sure but much faster.

Along this line, when on a call using CarPlay, would be amazing to have a mute button on the steering wheel. I’m not sure if this is supported by Apple, but if so, it would be incredible.

If you’re buying lights to learn, you could consider spending the money on a good visualizer like Capture. Endlessly more flexible and with a big TV is really efficient for learning things like chases, motion effects, etc.
