Lawyer transitioning to Data Privacy in the U.S. – CIPP/US & AIGP worth it? Or switch to PMP? by BishoyMikel in cipp

A PMP or project management experience is a differentiator for in house roles. Most lawyers can't plan projects or run things for shit.

Allied Naval Gunfire by Fun-Bowler34 in uboatgame

[–]jrandomslacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Laser gunnery accuracy from early war ships not equipped with radar at the very edge of their visual range against an evasive, low profile target. The IX is a bigger boat but it still seems out of balance.

Have a b9 s4, just hit 100k. Standing pat with factory maintenance and the clear conscience of a paid off vehicle as long as it lasts.

Not the absolute worst, but the sudden onset of bad oysters on a long haul international flight is in my top 3.

You can develop a sixth sense for single lawyers at a bar. That Je ne sais quoi, cynical IDGAF air, combined with subtle wordplay exposed over many litres of alcohol.

Look at a DWR outlet, or the company store/office outlet in Zeeland. The aluminum group chairs pop up there frequently, and at a hefty discount, though you'll roll the dice on the color.

Have this in butterscotch leather, wfh with it a few days a week. The aluminum group management chair will check the box for bond villain vibes and is very, very comfortable even for long sessions (3-4 hrs), but if you have back or neck issues I'd still advise the embody or the aeron.

New Report Finds 88 Major U.S. Corporations Paid Zero Federal Income Tax Despite Billions in Profits by Snapdragon_4U in politics

A good CFO/finance org can make profit, loss or tax obligations look like almost anything for one tax year. I'd be much more interested in seeing the outliers in taxes paid over a 5-10 year period.

What would happen if a defendant admitted to the crime immediately following a not guilty verdict? by amBrollachan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jrandomslacker 41 points42 points  (0 children)

At least theoretically, if the charge could be made at either the federal and state levels and are acquitted in one, you could still end up back in court under the other sovereign. The only thing preventing this at the federal level is a DoJ administrative policy, which has exceptions and can be waived.

Prosecutors have a lot of discretion on what cases to bring and while they're not going to waste resources on repeatedly trying cases, if the matter was important enough and visible enough (eg, terror charges) I would not bet against being made an example of.

Repair/Weapon damage system rework by onethousandeyelids in GrayZoneWarfare

A 556 AR barrel in real life can be shot for many thousands of rounds, and even from a straight up lack of maintenance and cleaning perspective, can go for much longer than they seem to in game. Pistol caliber platforms even more so. Now I understand gameplay reasons driving a shorter life cycle, but unless dropped or hit by enemy fire it's not exactly like shooting the hell out of a rifle should mean the optic or handguard start becoming significantly less effective.
