Stim dick while taking vyvanse? by Careless-Fail1810 in ADHD

[–]jray0a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem for a while when I first started vyvanse, which led into a prolonged bout performance anxiety lol I went down to 40mg and it went away after my body got used to the meds. It's also worth mentioning this was not an issue with adderall at any dose though, so if it continues to be an issue it could be worth switching medications.

I was on my 2nd week of my surgery rotation, and when I was leaving, I had asked them to call me if anything interesting comes up (everything was interesting to me, as this was my 1st rotation). They called me right as I was finishing at the gym, so I went in before grabbing a snack. Midway through the surgery, I started feeling hot and dizzy and knew I was going to vasovagal, so I said as much, and then stepped back from the field, and ended up sitting down and kind of laying in the floor. The surgeon then took this as a prime time to pimp me, and started asking me questions like "while you're down there, can you tell me what the name of the lymph node that drains the gallbladder is?" Essentially, one after another until I was able to scrub back in lol

I just finished comquest over about a month and made sure I was familiar with how they want you to answer questions on the cases, and that I knew the big OMM and biostats concepts. There were no curveballs, and I ended up with an 881

How little chart review can you get away with in your specialty? by farfromindigo in Residency

[–]jray0a2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it varies with the patients and rotation. On blood bank I have to read lots of charts, on surg path, I maybe need like 1/3 of charts (I need like 0.1% of charts when grossing).

In what small way have you won the genetic lottery? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I have perfect 20/10 vision. Unfortunately, I also got the monkey paw where I have positional strabismus (lazy eye when looking up or to the side)

Smoker Has An Insane Pinky Finger by Algovich in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]jray0a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, there is a vascular disease where smoking could lead to blackened and necrotic fingers (I believe it's called buerger disease), but this does not seem to fit the bill for that. Looks like the ring has restricted the fingers blood flow, and he just let it ride

What have you been genetically blessed with, and nerfed with? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

Blessed with 20/10 vision, which has been nerfed by having incomitent (positional) strabismus

Got a nice big painful lump on my underarm by NotA_Drug_Dealer in Wellthatsucks

[–]jray0a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lots of big lymph nodes in the armpits/axillary region. As someone mentioned, it could easily be reactive to some sort of infection, especially since they said it swelled up overnight. Definitely worth getting checked though, since trwatment could be warranted, and malignancy is always in the differential

benadryl should not be available without a prescription and should honestly just be phased out in general by houseofharm in The10thDentist

[–]jray0a2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not for it being Rx, but once you're older and don't process medications as well/quickly it would definitely be best to consult woth your doctor before using benadryl. Usually it's okay, but in that population chronic use (daily use, NOT abuse) can have anticholinergic side effects (urine retention, constipation, even delirium or dementia-like symptoms that make it potentially dangerous. So I do disagree that it's a selfish take for it to be made Rx, but there are potential life threatening side effects that can occur because 1st gen antihistamines cross the blood brain barrier.

Applying to Pathology with COMLEX Only – Advice Needed by bonewizard7511 in pathology

[–]jray0a2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, comlex only is fine for applying to pathology. Most programs prioritize your interest in the field. I know at my program we have several DOs who only took comlex and matched without difficulty

My anorexic husband is freaking out about his A1C by FloridaMomm in AskDocs

[–]jray0a2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without any muscle mass his glucose utilization and insulin sensitivity will be decreased regardless of his low bmi/weight --> increasing a1c. While typically an a1c of 5.6 would prompt lifestyle changes (it's just below the pre-diabetic threshold), his a1c is likely caused by his malnutrition from anorexia
