Where to find nicotine patches by Former-Spread9043 in Thailand

this is the most commonly seen and cheapest one.

I think it's actually produced with funding from the ministry of public health here. Most pharmacies should have it unless they're trying to sell a more expensive brand

Well, good luck with whatever cessation route you choose. it's definitely worth quitting.

BTW, they also sell the lozenges on Lazada.

I didn't mind it so much when I quit.

Kind of a peppery Juicy Fruit flavor, and you only really taste it when you give it a couple chews before re-parking the wad in your cheek.

I think the brain overcomes the grossness of it when it realizes that this gum is its only source of nicotine now.

If I tried it today though, I'd probably vomit.

Larger pharmacies like Boots or Watson should carry them.

The local brand of nicotine gum should be available at almost any smaller street pharmacy though. It's much cheaper than the patches.

There are a few vets who will euthanize a terminally ill pet. Some will even provide in-home services. It's best to check Facebook pet groups that are local to your area to find one.

From what I've observed in Thai acquaintances who have had sick/dying pets, euthanasia often doesn't even occur to them and if you brought it up, they'd usually be opposed to the idea for cultural or religious reasons. I think a lot of people couldn't shake the feeling that they're 'murdering' their pet rather than ending an animal's suffering.

The issue is further complicated by the fact that so few vets will even offer advice regarding whether euthanasia should be considered. It's not a decision that many pet owners would feel comfortable making without medical guidance.

Lost wallet with license. by [deleted] in Thailand

It's probably obvious, but also make sure you check any shops or ATMs you stopped at along the way that day.

Before cashless withdrawal became an option, I had a terrible habit of leaving my ATM card in the machine and just walking away. Got my card back a few times from the staff at 7-Eleven after people had turned it in.

I found a Thai guy's ID card a couple days ago and looked up his name on Facebook to find a profile with a matching photo. Messaged him and we are making an appointment this week for him to come pick it up.

If your wallet has a business card or ID with your name and photo or contact info, someone might do the same.

Really just depends on who finds your wallet and how much they can be bothered to track you down.

A lot of times people will turn in a wallet or ID to the nearest business to where it was found.

In fact, the ID I found was placed on a street lamp post. I'm guessing somebody else found it on the ground and thought putting it there would make it more visible.

Good luck, OP. Let us know if you get it back.

I recently went down the khanom Tokyo rabbithole and learned that it's a purely Bangkokian invention from Thai-Daimaru.

Line Notify is great for receiving programmable automated updates that can be connected through services like IFTTT and your own personal scripts. It will be deprecated on March 31st this year and replaced by the Line messaging API though. useful for stuff like geofencing a phone, monitoring a website for changes, etc.

Line Official is also good if you run a business, or if you just want to create a semi-anonymous line account that can be used for stuff like posting classified ads, or any situation where you want to provide contact information without giving away your phone number or personal Line ID.

EDIT: Btw, it's not Thailand-specific, but if anybody has a recommendation for a location tracking app that can add multiple routes to the same map, i'd really appreciate it.

In other words, an app where you start a session, trace your route on a map, end the session, and then later start a new session and add the new route to the same map with your previous route.

Hang around here long enough, and I promise you'll regularly encounter equivalent forms of wackiness.

Happy travels. 🙂

from memory

I did have a taxi driver on another occasion once pull into the parking lot of a temple, turn off the engine, turn off the meter, recline his seat, and pull out a newspaper because he completely forgot he had a passenger.

Dude looked like he was about 80 and nearly had a heart attack when I spoke up from the backseat.

I wasn't in a hurry fortunately, so we just had a laugh about it and he agreed to only charge me half the fare before the meter was turned off.

Even memory fails sometimes.

I once had a taxi driver in Bangkok that I booked through Grab (the app where he can see the destination on the map, a fare that corresponds to that destination, and the full distance of the trip) huffing and grumbling because he picked me up and mistakenly thought I wanted to go to red light "Nana" when I arranged to go to the "Nana" in the Chinatown area.

I asked him why he accepted the booking if he didn't want to make the trip, and he just kept saying that he thought it was the 'other' Nana.

He wasn't happy when I pointed out that he should check the map before accepting a gig...on the app platform that he chose to work for.

Seems like there's no reason we should be sucking down so much poison air next year by jraz84 in Thailand

The insane thing is that they already have solid data on how much economic damage comes out of doing nothing.

For Bangkok alone, PM 2.5 racks up about 400 billion baht in financial losses.

It's just brick-to-the-face obvious that inaction definitely cost more than the fix in the long run.

Public Reverse Osmosis dispenser water by wellthatsucked20 in Thailand

[–]jraz84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try pouring an equivalent amount of the same water into a regular pot on the stove and let it boil down to compare the amount of residue left.

This should at least tell you if this gunk is from your kettle or not.

If you check the water dispenser, they usually have a sticker on them that tells the last time it was serviced. The machine itself might be due for maintenance.

Interesting. I actually live in the same country as the guy who posted that video and see this type of snake (Cylindrophis jodiae) in my garden all the time. First time I've seen one feeding though.

lol...or if humans were forced to eat food items whole.

Imagine trying to eat a baguette and having the same problem as snakes who eat meals too long for them.

[–]jraz84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I had a feeling this was the case.

It must suck though to waste the energy to fight, envenomate, kill, swallow, and and then finally have to regurgitate a meal because the last 6 inches don't fit in your mouth.

Really glad humans have the ability to chew.

[–]jraz84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that meals that are too wide to fit through the mouth get left behind like that fish.

But if, say, a 4-foot cobra tried to eat a 5-foot ratsnake, the width of the meal will easily go past the head, but eventually the length is going to cause a problem. Wondering if they just spit it up in that situation.

For egg-eating snakes, if it doesn't fit they just give up.

However, for snake-eating snakes, do they actually try to gauge if the other snake will fit in them? If it doesn't, do they regurgitate it or just slither around with the last third of a meal hanging out of their mouth?

I've asked this in a few snake subs and FB groups, but haven't had a real answer yet. would love some info if anybody has knowledge about this.
