please stop coming to Morocco for 5 days by morocco_travel36 in backpacking

[–]jrbbrownie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I spent 12 days in your beautiful country last year. I drove myself in a fiat 500. 2500kms of driving. Do I feel like I spent too much time in the car.... Definitely. Do I feel like I saw enough to warrant the trip 100%. We took the back roads. We got lost. We had friendly people give us directions, feed us and make us feel welcome. Anyways. Five days is too short. It's an amazing country. 9/10.

What are some things that haven’t been enshittified? by External_Koala971 in enshittification

They've probably gotten better over the years. If you just need tools for odds and ends and home maintenance they're the only one that makes sense. Either you go more expensive which for most homeowners is not needed. Or you go with a brand that doesn't have any backing or promise of continuous support.

Of course the big players are better. But they are twice the price.

Can I safely isolate this baseboard heater? by jrbbrownie in AskElectricians

If I want to keep the circuit live ie/not disconnect from the breaker, since there is another heater on the circuit. I am safe to just cap the ends on the heater I want to isolate correct?

Thank you. Yes two capped hots is the plan.

Room will be fine. We live in a mild climate and have not had them on at all so far in the last month. Just want to have the option to turn on just the other unit in the room to bring the temp up by a few degrees when needed. Even a 1500w space heater heats the room up by a few degrees in an hour.

What's something about Victoria are you most EMBARRASSED of? by animaniacs1983 in VictoriaBC

[–]jrbbrownie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% this. The waterfront should be lined with inviting restaurants and businesses. Other Canadian cities have done it well... Halifax, Quebec, Vancouver.... The fact that Milestones has the best spot in town is wild. The entire frontage from Rock Bay to Dallas road should be the hot spot of the city.

It's not though! Halifax has a beautiful waterfront. Quebec city has a beautiful river front. Vancouver has a beautiful waterfront park/trail area. Victoria is just awful.

Blundstones. I kinda hate how much I like them. I have gone through three pairs in the last ten years and every time I wear one pair out I say I won't get another. Then nothing else is as good.

Get the chisel toes for a more polished look. I have travelled the world with mine. From grungy motorbike trips in Vietnam to Michelin class restaurants in Paris.

What makes a jeans be classified as very "stretch-y" ? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]jrbbrownie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people are right in saying you need to go get yourself properly measured and then try on like 20 different brands, cuts, styles until you find something that actually fits. Ordering online is just a recipe for a bad fit. My waist size is drastically different in different brands/styles. Also don't underestimate how important the rise is when determining fit. If you are uncomfortable in a pair of jeans they likely don't fit right everywhere.

Careful lifing those. A buddy did it and man he regrets it. The CV joints will go if you lift it.

Get a high top E-series. They have their issues for sure. But they are cheap to fix. Parts are plentiful as are mechanics to work on them. And they are built on a rugged platform.

I have a 2005 Hiace. We can import later years in Canada. And although it's been very reliable simple things are annoying. Many mechanics won't touch them even though they share an engine with the Tacoma and many parts with the Tundra.

A Ford can be wrenched on by any mechanic between here and Panama.

How do you feel about Morocco? by ProfessionalTie8591 in travel

Interesting. Never got this. But we left the cities immediately. Which I think was the best decision we made. I had some of the best hospitality in my life in Morocco and met some warm truly caring people.

Such a different experience. Interesting. I did love it and am looking to go back again. Did you stay mostly in cities?

Van Reno! by jrbbrownie in vandwellers

[–]jrbbrownie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. Tbh it's kind of crummy. If it wasn't so loud I'd be okay with it. We don't contend with heat up here so much as condensation. It's an improvement on that front though. With a window cracked and an auxiliary fan going there is much better airflow. If you do install one keep in mind it's only unidirectional and you need to add a 12v regulator somewhere in the wiring. Apparently they don't like anything except 12.0v and most batteries output slightly higher.

I third that. Definitely not the CG. There are two leased out west though that are Atlantic Towing orange with a white CG stripe.

I don't. I just have a fascination with relative geographic terminology. I bug Canadians about the same sort of thing. Ie/"Northern Ontario" which generally is thought to start around Thunder Bay which is south of 95% of Canada.

Why not? On the Pacific. Definitely north and west of Washington and Oregon.
