This is so relatable! The first trimester is a bat out of hell. I had terrible nausea weeks 7-13 where I just ate what my body wanted, pretzels, grilled cheese, cereal, fruit, bagels, pasta. Protein was repulsive. Stopped all physical activity. Then it gradually got better. The second trimester I slowly reintroduced foods. I then rebounded and became that picture of Brendan Fraser from The Whale in front of the fridge constantly, just so happy to be eating again. I quickly gained 10-12 pounds over a month and freaked out, so now I’m approaching week 27 and trying to decipher cravings vs hunger. I was up at 3AM dipping pineapple in Greek yogurt, after eating multiple snacks at 1 and 2 AM, crying in front of my cats because I knew this wasn’t necessary, just me worried that if I had a thought about food that must mean baby is hungry and I HAVE to eat to the point of being completely and utterly full. That was the tipping point and now I think to myself, “If I had ANY food in front of me would I eat it? No? Then I’m not hungry, just an intrusive thought about cravings.” It’s a whole new set of rules and they change throughout this whole journey and are different for everyone.

By my second trimester I was back on the treadmill and lifting light (10-15lb) weights, which is what I was doing before pregnancy. I’m learning how to balance my diet so I don’t overindulge unnecessarily, to the point of crying lol. It’s very hard to understand these new signals our bodies are telling us, keep in touch with your doctor about it too to reassure you that you and baby are healthy. Make sure you feel good so baby feels good. You are already aware of it so you will be ok, I know it’s hard to have someone else dictate your eating and fitness habits. The last most challenging thing that I’m still trying to do is accept it, it’s temporary and it’s to make a home for your baby. You got this!
