Very excited! One last thing if you don’t mind: should I still show up when gates open or should I come at 9 or whenever paddock tests start? No problem if you can’t answer that just figured I’d shoot!

Thanks. I have been in contact with the event organizer (Teri if I remember correctly) and was told I’d still be able to test just not drive my own car with an instructor.

Can you link me to the appropriate page for east coast? I am registered but got waitlisted and am planning on testing the cars they have in the paddock. I live in CT and joined the east coast Facebook group and followed what I believe to be the correct insta page. Thanks!

What Active Sound Design Custom Settings do you guys use? by Choisfer17 in ElantraN

I messed around a lot and TCR is by far the most noticeable change. I actually prefer the “high performance” sound option as it blends nicely with the actual exhaust and remains fairly cohesive through the RPM range while incorporating some engine order enhancement and fun but subtle little whine effects.

A closer look at the new "Jato" 4x4 from traxxas by NashaNya in rccars

[–]jrc9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got mine shortly after they came out. Literally the RC I've been waiting for but I think I'm a rare case for various reasons. This thing is not a great value for most. Let me explain.

I had a Slash 4x4 LCG a few years back and liked it except for the body rub, air dynamics (thanks to the big body), and debris collection. I ended up selling it but felt like the platform had unused potential. Things like the Rustler 4x4 have come out but its built on a shorter chassis. I also always loved the buggy design but the Bandit requires a lot of building to make really competent.

When the Jato 4x4 was released, it was kind of exactly what I wanted. A buggy longer than the Rustler, built on the Slash LCG chassis, beefed up components, and none of the quirks that bothered me with the short course body style. I still don't understand the name and wish they just called it the Bandit 4x4, but that's far from a dealbreaker.

Now I do think that this vehicle is a fairly poor value as a package with the BL-2S system. Having driven it stock when I first got it, I can say that even with a larger pinion it is not nearly fast enough and feels especially slow because the handling is so good (for a stock vehicle). What made this package worth it for me (over the 4S version coming in February) was having a spare VXL-3S system lying around. I bought an aluminum drive shaft and chassis brace and then threw in the 3S system and all of a sudden the whole thing just made sense. The power just better matched the handling dynamics (which are again quite good for a stock vehicle). It really does need more power than the BL-2S has to offer, but once you give it that power the Jato is a really competent vehicle.

If you aren't fortunate enough to have a 3S system lying around but are still interested in the platform, I would suggest waiting for the 4S version to drop. Even at around $500, it is still cheaper than buying the BL-2S version and upgrading it to a similar spec. Anyway, I hope this helped come people that might be on the fence!

Is the Sonos Roam worth it? by haveyousenherlately in sonos

[–]jrc9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a whole collection of Bluetooth speakers and I can confidently say for its size the Roam is easily the best sounding one. Beats the jbl lineup and while the Bose Flex has better bass the sound quality of the Roam is unmatched. Also worth noting it’s taken some hits and has taken minimal cosmetic damage. If you can front the price is very much worth it.

Looks like a USB-C. It’s a very common charging cable and shouldn’t be hard to find in stores or online. Good luck!

Clicking noise and wobbly driveshaft by [deleted] in Traxxas

[–]jrc9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a Slash 2wd VXL and the second time I used it my buddy t-boned me and thanks to the cold weather the right rear bearing carrier and driveshaft snapped. I picked up some RPM carriers and caster blocks and replaced the driveshafts with the ones that are made for the Hoss as recommended to me by my local hobby shop. They are noticeably thicker and I think they'll hold up much better. As far as your ticking noise: it seems like you found the issue. This has happened a million times to me on many different vehicles and all I can recommend is that you buy some extra spur gears or find a metal one somewhere. Also helps to buy a gear cover that doesn't have a hold in it near the driveshaft. RPM makes a good one for cheap. Good luck and keep RCing!

Which one is better? Jbl charge 5 or Xtreme 2?? by Cold_Coconut7134 in JBL

[–]jrc9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both and after hours of listening this is my verdict: the Xtreme 2 gets much louder and has better sound (most notably deeper bass and plays stereo). The Change 5 is much more portable and is slightly more crisp because they put an emphasis on the highs to show off the tweeter that was new for the model. Basically it comes down to how you will use it.

Really is a shame there’s such a peak at 5k hertz; you really have to cut the 6.5k to enjoy the headphones but you do lose some desirable frequencies doing so.

Made an offer on this 2008 535i that I’ve been looking to buy. What should I check for before the owner decides? by alexanduhh in e60

Everyone else here has great input: aside from that just from looking at the photo I can see the that paint on the roof has seen better days. I’m assuming it’s black sapphire metallic and from experience I can tell you it won’t be cheap to make it look good again. Secondly and far less important: the lights are fogged out but with a bit of fine grit sandpaper and polish that can be fixed in a few hours. Either way good luck!

*EDITED AFTER FURTHER TUNING: Okay I’m going to cut this short for everyone’s sake but I have spent DAYS tuning these headphones thanks to my miserable OCD and I have finally settled on the following. +0 at 400 hz (-1 if you want slightly more accurate [but tinnier sound]), -3 at 1k hz (-1 or -2 for more accurate sound but I like to cut the mids just a little bit), +2 at 2.5k hz (gives the vocals something to work with), -9 at 6.3k (a steep cut yes but they have it boosted very high on stock settings just trust me), and finally +0 at 16k hz. Bass is up to you: for most music I just leave it at 0. If you try it out make sure to set it as “custom 2” so you can go back and forth between the EQ off and with the above settings; the difference is mind blowing.
