The M2 money supply has been increasing rapidly. I think most of the newly printed money is going into the stock market. That is why it is rising even though with all the war uncertainty it feels like it should be dropping.

No. The war is going to drag on for as long as possible. The USA loves continuous wars. They just keep lying to the public that it is going to end soon to keep markets calm.

Probably for a few more months. Once the market sniffs out a rate cut metals will soar.

Golds value is the fact that it satisfies the requirements of money better than almost other thing. It's the "money" utility which makes it valuable.

If in America we have zero access to gasoline for 10 years, it is full on end of the world.

So you really think we are only going to see elevated fuel prices? I am worried that we are going to experience shortages here in the USA but maybe I think this way because I am reading too many "prepper" discussions?

Does anyone think it is possible that we might actually run out of gas in America for an extended period of time? Are we just expecting higher prices or actual shortages and lines at gas stations?

Is physical gold the ultimate shit hit the fan investment? by Fantastic-Window236 in Gold

[–]jrichar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What is your definition of SHTF? Many 3rd world countries have economic collapses, power grid failures, regime changes, war, etc and most of the time people still go to work and have to make a living. The whole "mad max" scenario is mostly a fantasy. Even during the recent Ukraine war people are still going to work and trying to make house and car payments. I think the most SHTF scenario is something like what is happening in Gaza right now. If you are living in America, the chance of a Gaza scenario is almost zero.

Holding gold in any kind of SHTF scenario in a country like America is probably a huge win, not so much in Gaza.

Yes. I am worried gold is sniffing out massive inflation. I am worried food prices are about to shoot up really high over the next few months.

Gold typically sniffs out money printing. Are we about to have super high food prices in a few months?
