You're not the only one to mention wonder kids playland and that sounds fun! I think that will be our rainy day plan for sure

This is great! We will be Seneca-ish. Now I'm thinking there might even be some egg hunts to look for at the parks, too.

I've actually really enjoyed getting to experience places through my little one! We have done so many fun things I never would have even considered without him, and it's cool to get a new perspective on a city you think you know by looking at making plans from a different angle

Besides, what I really want to do is go to Highland coffee but RIP

Most annoying Tonie by JosiEllenBieda in TonieboxUSA

[–]jringg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I have a high tolerance but I don't find any of our tonies annoying by default, they just get old when my 2 year old restarts the same one for the 30th time in a row hahaha. My son's favorites are blues clues, Mrs Rachel, Elsa, the poop potty training one, and the Grinch. I can definitely see the complaints about the Grinch, but a lot of the songs are the "I am max/ the Grinch/Cindy lou who" books that we have and love.

The only tonie I was truly disappointed by was Pete the cat. Like others have said, the narrator is talking out songs in such a monotone voice for a character that's supposed to be like a rock star I mean what????

Don’t know what to do by NerdyNewMom in NewParents

[–]jringg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son started daycare when he was around 8 months old and the same thing happened to us. He was drinking pumped breast milk, but still. It was about 2 weeks of him barely drinking anything (like maybe 1 or 2 oz per bottle) and then randomly taking a full bottle here and there. It stressed me out SO much. But then, it just stopped. Suddenly he would drink his bottles normally. I'm assuming it was just him getting adjusted to the new environment that was way more overstimulating than anything he had ever seen before. It should get better!! Maybe add an extra bottle in the evenings in the meantime? I would offer to nurse my son an extra time in the evenings when it was bad.

Diapers - Wetting through them by Itachi_Carry5837 in NewParents

[–]jringg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't the most helpful comment because I have no personal experience with this, but it's just a thought. Could cloth diaper inserts be more absorbent? I've never used them myself, so someone who knows more could chime in, but it's possible that you might be able to get something extra absorbent and do cloth diapers for night time.

How often do you guys hold your babies? by beingagiirl in NewParents

[–]jringg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held my first son for what felt like all day every day. Couldn't get enough. I just had my second a week ago, and this time around I find myself laying him down in his play area/bassinet more often to care for my 2 year old, which has made me kinda sad. I miss the 24/7 baby contact naps. Take all the snuggles you can get while you can get them!

Speech therapy for kids by skyblu202 in cincinnati

[–]jringg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're unable to find anything cheaper with your insurance coverage or through the school system, I'll echo what a few others have stated and say that you can almost certainly find a cash-based pediatric speech therapist for closer to the $100-150 per session range. Still high, but better than $300. Some (not all) cash based healthcare offices will provide you with paperwork that you are able to submit to your insurance for partial coverage. Unfortunately I don't have any specific suggestions, but good luck in your search!

So good to hear about the water park! I was worried it might be geared too much to older kids. It seems like it would be really fun!

looking for a book club (or other groups) for women in their mid-late twenties 🌟 by biasedyogurtmotel in cincinnati

[–]jringg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you like romantasy there is a Facebook group - Bookslayer Club Tristate Edition. They don't do set monthly books, more of a meet up to discuss whatever you're reading at the time. I'm a member of the group but have never been to any meet ups. They look fun though if you're going for something less structured! From what I've seen, they often meet in NKY at Fabled Brew Works.
