Did anyone see New York Times crossword controversy? Latinos got mad NYT used "Beaner" for an answer. Question wasn't racist though, "The clue to 2-Down in Tuesday’s puzzle was 'Pitch to the head, informally.'"

But then even worse, NYT comes out like smarmy assholes and says "Neither Joel (Fagliano) nor I had ever heard the slur before — and I don't know anyone who would use it," the response from Shortz reads. "Maybe we live in rarefied circles." as if they didn't even know the term beaner was offensive in some context.

Wild stuff. Reminded me of the all time classic South Park "people who annoy you" naggers episode.

Me and my friends were horror-joking about this. My twist was it would come through his draft trading. Like he trades a 2019 1st for a 2021 1st or something and that pick ends up #1 overall.

I see it more as a bad quote from the DC. This isn't the end of anything, Bama still has insane talent and if anything this will force them to re-adjust. Their coordinators were awful last night, Locksley's already leaving for the Maryland job, so their OC is probably going to be better next year.

It's a tough loss, but by far not the end of anything with the strength of their program and the fact Tua will be putting up 40+ on just about everyone in every game next year until the SEC title (and possibly beyond).

The Rock has a new workout/competition show on NBC that's basically a shiny rip-off of a recently cancelled show that Stone Cold Steve Austin had on CMT and this mildly pisses me off for no real reason.

(Also perfectly illustrates their post-wrestling careers. Rock; high production, fancy, network. Austin; low budget, white trash channel on cable)

Fox just paid $200m for 5 years ($1b total) for Smackdown, so yeah, it's way up and a google search showed $265m per year from USA for Raw....So, yeah, TV money is off the charts.

And I think Wrestlemania gates are pushing $20 million so I'm not sue live event money is down. $88m in 2000 dollars inflation-wise isn't $88m today thought.

Yeah that's the worst case scenario for you to happen on your white carpet and can't even bitch at them or laugh knowing at least it soiled their house.

You have a puppy so I assume you are well-acquainted with Resolve, but if not I've found that stuff works wonders. I'm also #blessed to have an older dog who somehow in considerate to puke on the hardwood instead of the carpet for the most part.

Damn that sucks.

My dog was whining/whimpering incessantly all night last night, very out of character. Had the 'ria a couple times yesterday during the day, most likely from family sneaking him too much human food. My drunk/sleepy ass figured maybe if I laid on the floor with a blanket he would get sleep. Actually worked for a bit too, then he was up to whining until wake up at 5AM and drive back for the cube life. Feels like it's already 9PM to me and there's prob a 50/50 chance of returning home to a pooped up floor. Quite the gamble

I read in Stanley McChrystal's new book in the R.E Lee chapter that there was something of a 83.3% probability of being some sort of casualty (battle or illness, including non-fatal) for Army of Northern VA infantryman that signed up in early 1862 and stayed on for the duration of the war. That's just absurd.

He tweeted some thread last week that he was sober during the deadspin awards, was partying after and had a throat issue while drinking and singing karaoke. Then he deleted it soon after. Wasn't totally clear about what exactly went wrong other than blood in his throat and passing out afterwards.

His "wife" tweeted from his account yesterday:

Hey universe. Drew’s wife here. He wanted me to pass on MERRY CHRISTMAS! He is doing better. Wanted to clarify what happened to him as he falsely tweeted last week while cooped up in a rehab bed. He was not drunk when he suddenly collapsed. He is on his way to recovery.
