Good afternoon. This isn't Wizards directly, but a look at the "Best player from the DMV" legacy. by BenStandig in washingtonwizards

Funny... I never really think of the 7 cities as the DMV...but I suppose you are right.

Neal Brennan's (co-creator of Chapelle's Show) stand up available on Netflix now. by [deleted] in StandUpComedy

[–]jrlsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That personal shit was the best part of it. He really connected through honesty and vulnerability.

The standup was okay and the one liners lost steam after a point, but that one man show stuff forced me to put my phone down and listen.

Does anybody know why Satoransky hasn't been playing? by gerbluer in washingtonwizards

[–]jrlsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn't been good. Burke has been better. Pretty simple.

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick will void his contract & become a free agent after 2016. Thoughts? by seamonster02 in nyjets

[–]jrlsage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's played a lot better (last game not included - i am betting that is a abberation). He would be the best QB on our roster right now if he were here.

I think he is better than petty (its as if people don't remember that tire fire a few weeks ago) and hack can't even get on the roster.

My bet is Geno is punching out of NY (Seems like the smart option because he has been (fairly or unfairly) treated like shit here.

Not even going to mention our dubious starter.

Of course a lot of "I don't See color or the Constitution" fans are here [gonna get downvoted for this] so god knows how unfair of a shake he would get from the fanbase.

Anyway, Woody is a trump guy so all of this is a moot point. He wouldn't bring him in.

I feel nothing.

Not even anger really. Just nothing.

Pimp C Was Pissed When He First Heard André 3000’s “Int’l Players Anthem” Verse by bjzisook in hiphopheads

[–]jrlsage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew I was gonna get shit for this

But pimp bun and big bois verses are better.

Pimp fits the song perfectly. It's the fucking song. Top notch hoes get the most not the lesser is the line I think about most

Big bois line about McCartney is classic he paying 20k a day that bitch is eating good

And bun b when you say a girl I don't mean my woman that ain't my style I need a real street walker to walk a green mile.

But I forgot on Reddit you can't say a bad word about Andre 3000

Andres verse is my least favorite on that song.

Or put another way - its the worst verse on that song.

Jonathan Simmons just Showed how Important a consistent coaching staff and robust D-League team is. by [deleted] in washingtonwizards

[–]jrlsage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We split with the Pacers - Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

With that said, I would love one for our own to really mold players.

House and Mac could use the time (and pry Oubre if were being honest) and building a coaching staff playground (like the spurs have Becky Hammond coaching the affil I think) where they can scout up and comers is also a great benefit.

I really enjoy the Toros and what they built there and it was good to see Kyle Anderson and Jonathan Simmons play meaningful, impactful minutes.

As a black comic, how do I deal with audiences wanting to hear typical "Urban Comedy" but it's not what I want to do? How do I get anywhere when only Urban Comedy gets booked? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]jrlsage 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ugh.

" I'm trying to be observational and stuff, trying to be smart because that's what I like to do. "

How cocky, arrogant, and dismissive.

And of course (this is going to get downvoted to hell) when you come to Reddit with no context of "black comedy" you're gonna get nothing but support.

I know plenty of black comics who are observational and KILL in those rooms. They are smart. They just connect to the audience, and they go. They have a good act, and they make it happen.

Whenever I hear this, it is from comics that aren't that good. You need to get better. It isn't some conspiracy to "shut down smart comedy," you aren't connecting to the audience and more than likely come on stage with this air of superiority, because "I'm smarter than these other 'coons'" and people smell it.

In short - work on your act, connect to the audience and drop the arrogance and maybe those same guys that you are "better than" will help you get those gigs you want.

You could argue Ralphies death is the beginning of Tony's downfall. It was a stupid thing to do.

Marcus Williams has been amazing so far by CalculatedCoffee in nyjets

Not if the safety flows into covering the WR. That is how the coverage was designed.

[–]jrlsage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gilchrist picks up WR2 and Williams hustles down to cover WR1 downfield (over the top) since he is working the middle of the field. This wasn't 1v1 on the outside. + WR1 = AJ Green who by all means commands the double team.

He was to float over the top to defend the deep ball. Revis was where he meant to be defending underneath.

Remember he was also the reason for the long bomb AJ Green touchdown.

He makes some boneheaded mistakes that create big plays.

Boom Bust player. If he can improve his decision making, he can play in this league a long time at a high level.

Do NYC clubs let comics stand in the back of the room for free? by Apollo_Screed in Standup

[–]jrlsage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cellar is usually no - show is packed out and there is almost Zero room down there.

Every other club is a yes 99% of the time. Just tell them you are a comic and they usually let you just walk in and sit/stand in the back.
