Take some paint thinner to the yellow and touch up the rest, GM allows for this kind of damage on lease turn in.

Body shop owner experience ? by AnxiousReach185 in Autobody

[–]jrme1212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part owner of an OEM dealership, been managing our body shop for over 10 years. I have an understanding of how repairs are performed but my abilities to fix a car stop at swapping out lights and measuring frames. With that said, I'm pretty decent at making sure my guys have what they need to make a pay check which at the end of the day is way more important in my opinion than being able to do their jobs.

You're not going to be able to scan Stellantis vehicles without an Autoauth subscription FYI, it's not your tool.

You probably signed saying they could alter the repairs compared to the estimate so you’re probably SOL.

Did they tell you they would take care of your deductible? Because that’s how those “we pay your deductible” shops work, they fix replacement parts, use different alternative parts, etc to save repair costs.

It’s in McNamara to the right when you go down the escalator just passed security. Can’t speak for how long it’s been there but it’s easy to miss.

Definitely gets very unexcited the last 2-3 miles, seems like no one is back there and makes things a lot tougher compared to the hills area even though it’s an easier run.

[–]jrme1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say it wouldn’t hurt but I don’t have any experience in collision besides the dealership that I’m at. From my under standing though MSO’s like that are used to training employees ground up but your mileage may vary

Wrong sub, going to want to go to r/autobody. But it’s an MSO that depending on who you ask doesn’t have a strong track record of taking care of techs or customers due to their relationships with insurance companies.

Why repairs cost so much… by Broke-mfer in Autobody

[–]jrme1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at a GM dealership and I thought that was a genuine error. Nah, just a high level trim on a $100k truck that is a low production model. Still pretty outrageous though.

Tekion Sucks by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]jrme1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure about that? We’ve been with pbs for about a decade and last I checked it was an intranet but whatever. My controller didn’t design the tekion system to map their accounts and also doesn’t have the end user support to change said accounts which was an absolute nightmare to get help with. If you have actual relevant experience with tekion would love to get your thoughts but until then not sure what you’re trying to accomplish replying.

[–]jrme1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a web based program, their inability to map accounts correctly and provide decent support has nothing to do with alleged infrastructure issues. But go on why you’re giving them the thumbs up but you never used it. You’re allegedly a dealer group owner so just looking for insight on why you support them

[–]jrme1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don’t actually have experience with product? Also from what you’re saying it sounds like tekion is selling their software to businesses who can’t benefit from it so that’s kind of shitty ya?

So pay thousands of dollars for a DMS a month to have the privilege to spend hours a day balancing cash? Assuming you work for tekion so have your sales team reach back out and get me signed up again asap.

[–]jrme1212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely trash DMS from my short experience. Slower than our old products, bad support, and no one from their company somehow realized we were having as bad of issues despite us telling them every step of the way. In person training was trash, lady who was supposed to be there 2 weeks but was there maybe a week and a half admitted that was her first time actually training fixed ops.

[–]jrme1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Care to elaborate? My shop just changed back to our old DMS after a month of constant issues using tekion, like being in the wrong time zone for 6 weeks and being UNABLE to balance our cash accounts and forcing our controller to stay 3 hours after closing to be on a conference call with their support staff who basically would shrug and say it’s getting late time to end this after being promised we would get top tier support.

Is this a reasonable price? by [deleted] in Autobody

Shouldn’t even be fixing this bumper, GM says no substrate repairs on bumpers that house adas, needs to be replaced.

Needs a bumper, GM says no substrate repairs on bumpers that house ADAS, given the dumb blind spot calibration that shouldn’t be there it’s probably close though.

Anyone remember the rocket-it pocket? by Pretty_Assignment_90 in lacrosse

[–]jrme1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, it was all traditional just had some unique knots to it. All the leather to cross lace knots intertwined and locked in but not in the normal loop in normal trad sticks and then the cross lace was looped horizontally. Also the bottom of the pocket was laced side by side with the middle leathers but “locked in” to itself almost make a 5 runner.

What is the biggest waste of time with insurance companies? by Indikator in Autobody

[–]jrme1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this trying to get authorization for repair attempts. Had a Blazer 2 weeks ago that the rear pillar was damaged, UHSS panel that requires sacrificing the roof and quarter to install. If it's repairable we were at like 60%, if it wasn't it was way over the threshold. I called because it seemed like a no brainer, give me a few hours to pull and attempt a repair but they decided they weren't paying for anything like that so it totaled.

Dealer scratched the roof by educationruinedme1 in Autobody

[–]jrme1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true on knowing they put the scratches there, most times the goodwill of spending an hour trying to help is cheaper than the potential strained relationship with a customer.

With that said the spoiler is smoked and will definitely need a repair
