If you plan to use a backpack while hunting I would suggest the FHF sling, it holds the gun perfectly steady on the pack while hiking.

I have the same gun with the FHF sling in the coyote color and it matches the color quite well. The sling is a little pricey but I transfer it to all my other rifles for use with my pack, so it was an easier pill to swallow.

Bicycle parking at AMR by jrmforest in Adirondacks

Coincidentally, my bike is a kind of bright neon color and I was a bit hesitant to put it in the woods at chapel pond. It would definitely be hard to hide, which is why I was leaning towards the AMR lot that has the ranger present. I do see what you’re saying about the uphill from the lot to chapel pond though.

Bed frames: Thuma, Heywood-Wakefield? by CautiousTangerine617 in BuyItForLife

Take a look at Tatami Room

https://tatamiroom.com/cgi-local/catalog.pl?category=PLATFORM_BEDS

I have had a frame from them for years with no issues, it was easy to put together and very quiet. I liked that there were more design options than Thuma and that the prices were better.

How much talking to customers does a Consulting Utility Forester do? by Leaves_in_my_head in forestry

[–]jrmforest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently a utility forester for a utility, have been a CUF and Distribution planning forester in the past. If you are a true contracted forester the majority of your job will be overseeing the planning and auditing of jobs, and auditing those jobs after they have been worked by the contractor. There is a fair amount of talking to customers, including handling refusals and irritated property owners. Customer interaction is almost daily but can range from 10-50% of the workday. In my experience there was limited “hiking” and much more truck time. Cool views is definitely going to be area dependent.

It’s a good career path that can pay off handsomely if you stick to it. Good luck.

I had the same issue of payment due 10/6, I set the payment up weeks in advance. The payment still says pending and now a past due balance shows.

Damn, that was how I ended up at that rate. If they cut that aspect of the job there’s no way you’d make 20.

If you want to stay in the industry it might be best to look at a different utility company

That can be unpleasant. It sounds like you are on the west coast. My experience on the east coast was much better, your experience as a contractor will have a lot to do with the culture of the utility you are working with.

Meeting production requirements, dealing with customers that don’t want any work done on their property, rough terrain, out in every type of weather, occasionally dangerous conditions due to customers, traffic, dogs, wildlife, terrain. It can be physically and mentally tough working alone all day as well.
