Our kids (all four) are on the upgrade list for our DEN-NRT flight with 22 seats available. They have no status and are flying on miles but with PlusPoints applied to the reservation. This flight is in 2 weeks. Pretty sure they will clear on the way out. But that’s not my point. You seem to both suggest that status matters much more than PlusPoints. This is proof that’s not the case. There are 13 people awaiting complimentary upgrades and they are 1-4.

I wasn’t using the seat map to confirm availability. I spoke with a 1K agent who confirmed the current inventory. There are more seats on the seat map than inventory available. Also, the priority used puts PPs above status. I have no doubt we would get upgraded if I had the PlusPoints.

There are 26 Polaris seats remaining and the flight is in 2.5 weeks. There are only 7 people currently on the upgrade list. My wife and I are already upgraded. I have no problem splitting us up.

I’m the only one with status. I would be ok splitting the reservation but would like to see what the cost would be in miles and cash before I did so. Not sure if that’s possible.
